How do you really feel, Austin?
It can be entertaining when coaches slip into their answers what’s sticking in their craw. Defensive line coach Austin Clark provided such a moment when listing ways he gets satisfaction from his job.
“I would tell you heart, effort, dedication, stopping the freaking run … ,” he said.
A wisecracking reporter sought clarification on the difference between stopping the run and stopping the freaking run.
“There’s another word we probably would use instead of ‘freaking’ in there,” Clark joked. “Yeah, it’s a big deal.”
Miami improved from 27th in the NFL two years ago to 16th last year in stopping the freaking run.
