Grier will have to use his salary cap shoehorn to fit him in if we are interested as we have $13 mil in salary cap space but 4 rookies to sign. My guess is that he was just in for a look and to see where he is physically.

The Miami Dolphins might not be done adding to the league’s No. 4 scoring defense. Edge defender Melvin Ingram is in for a free agent visit Monday, an NFL source tells the Miami Herald.

Ingram, 32, is a three-time Pro Bowler who spent each of his first NFL nine seasons with the Chargers (both in San Diego and Los Angeles).

Ingram, who has 49 sacks and 70 tackles for loss in his career, missed all but seven games in 2020 with a series of knee injuries that twice landed him on injured reserve. As a result, he went without a sack for the first time as a pro.

The Dolphins have no one listed on PFF's Top 32 pass rushers in the NFL list.

25. Melvin Ingram III, Free Agent

Ingram is the most impactful free agent edge rusher still on the market following several seasons limited by injury in Los Angeles. Don’t be fooled by the goose egg in the sack column last season, though. Ingram still put up pass-rushing grades above 75.0 in each of the past two years and has plenty to offer teams as a pass-rusher. Teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs — neither of whom have representatives on this list — should have interest.

A little more info.

Flores didn’t offer much in the way of odds or anything else. He confirmed the meeting took place and said nothing to indicate that a signing is imminent, likely, or unlikely.

“Melvin as a player over the years I’ve seen him, he’s had a nice career,” Flores said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. “He’s had a very productive career. As a run player, as a pass rusher, as a disruptive defensive player, I’ve seen that from him. We do our due diligence on any player that available. That’s the case with Melvin. We brought him in and had conversations. I’m not going get into what those specific conversations were with Melvin or what our conversations have been internally about the possibility of adding him or not adding him. We do our due diligence. In this instance we’ll see where that is. We’ll see where it goes from here.”

Signed with the Steelers.

Steelers signed LB Melvin Ingram, formerly of the Chargers, to a one-year contract.

Pittsburgh had been in the market for another pass rusher after losing stud LB Bud Dupree and eventually came to terms with 32-year-old Ingram on a veteran's deal. Unfortunately he's finished the year on injured reserve in two consecutive seasons and most recently was unable to record a single sack during his seven games in 2020. The Steelers are obviously hoping he can regenerate any amount of talent he had while picking up seven sacks during the 2019 season.
