Miami would still have sucked all those years even without Tom Brady ever touching a football.
You could say back in the 80s that the Bills kept Dan Marino from winning a Super Bowl (although a lot can also be said about the lack of a defense and a very good running back), but you cannot say that Tom Brady kept the Dolphins from winning a Super Bowl. We just were never that good.
The Bills had great talent on both sides of the ball, but not as good as their Super Bowl opponents. We probably have never had a multi-purpose back near the caliber of Thurman Thomas. Jim Kelly was not Marino, but he did not have to carry a whole team either. Andre Reed was a true #1 receiver...we had a couple close to his caliber, but not lately. Bruce Smith was a force rushing the passer and they had great linebackers on Talley and Bennett. Unlike Miami great defenders, they played at their best in playoff games. Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas often failed on the biggest stages....no shame in the Bills losses to an even greater Dallas team, but the loss to NYG will always sting for them...the Redskins bowl game was over after the 2nd quarter....the Skins seemed the perfect defensive match for the Bills’ vaunted offense.
(need a sad thumb's up here)
Yep, those Bills teams were loaded on both sides of the ball. We did seem to split with them during the regular season, so, give the Don and Danny kudos for that, but the playoffs are a different animal. Your flaws are exposed.
