Simon Clancy of Gridiron rates him the #1 edge in his 2021 Draft Guide. He's a bit raw as he only played one year at edge, so, they see him more as a SAM LB. He's a possible bet at pick 18 if available.

“Ossai, by the way, has been of particular interest to the Dolphins, according to one scout,” reported Salguero.

Ossai logged an impressive season with Texas in 2020, emerging as a dynamic speed threat off the edge. Over the last two seasons, Ossai has recorded 10.5 sacks and 29.0 tackles for loss — making him a productive defender up front with plenty of explosiveness to his game. And a strong Pro Day performance may have helped push Ossai further onto Miami’s radar: he weighed in and 256 pounds and recorded a whopping 41.5″ vertical along with a 10-feet, 11-inch standing broad jump. That level of explosiveness in a 256 pound frame is pretty surreal and further backs Ossai’s claim as a potential fit in Miami’s gap control defense.

I've read he's a reach in the first round, but not all the evaluators have the same opinion obviously.

He is a Texas Longhorn, not a Sooner.

I fixed it. I have a friend who went to Oklahoma. They hate Texas. My deep apologies to him.

:haha

Check him out against Teven Jenkins. I hope the link works.

That was indeed an abusive block. There are about half a dozen DE's who are being mentioned as possible first round picks. However, all of them have concerns about one thing or another (lack of strength to set the edge, limited experience, injury, lack of production, etc.). I hope we stay away from all of them at 18 -- too risky. I think 18 isn't a great spot, and we should trade up to get into the higher tier of players (Slater, for example) or trade down to the mid 20s and get the same caliber of player that we could get at 18 (RB, LB, or one of those Edge guys).

Jim Nagy, Senior Bowl Director, and former NFL scout and player personnel exec. has Miami's first two rounds like this:

#6 - Jamarr Chase, WR, LSU
#18 - Najee Harris, RB, ALA
#36 - Azeez Ojulari, OLB, UGA
#50 - Quinn Meinerz, G/C, UWW

Chase won’t be there at 6. I doubt the team is smart enough to take Harris at 18, but would be thrilled if our first two picks were Smith and Harris. Does anyone have an eye on where Creed Humphrey will go in this draft....he would make a great Phin.
