Satele played hurt
Well, we might have found the reason why Satele was so inconsistent this season. Maybe it was not just simply sophomore slack after all. Apparently, Satele played the 2008 campaign with a torn labrum. Basically, from my understanding, it's an injury in the shoulder, that when you apply pressure to it, you feel pain in that shoulder. Obviously being an O-lineman, where your job is basically punching 300+ pounds men in the chest and pushing them back, I would imagine that this could be something that would bother you and affect your play, maybe even significantly. He has had surgery on the shoulder and is expected to be just fine for 2009.
As someone stated on the boards, one could very well discern from this that the staff was clearly confident enough in Satele's ability to play him even though he was hurt. The rumors have been flying that the Dolphins will be looking for a new center, and possibly either getting rid of, or trying Satele out at guard. That talk has subsided a little with the news of the injury though, and I am glad. I think that Satele can be a fine center for us for a long time.
What would you give for Anquan Boldin?
Let me start out by saying that I really think the fit Anquan Boldin threw during and after the Cards NFC Championship win two Sundays ago. I would hate to think that one incident, not even a major one, would tarnish his image. Boldin has been un happy all year, and rightfully so, yet you have not heard a peep out of him at all.
So I'll ask again, what would you give up for the Pro Bowl receiver? Personally I think that he is worth a 1st and a 3rd round pick. However, with the amount of holes that need filling on this team, and the great value that there is at 25 at some of the spots we need help in, I would not give up more than a second. If he becomes available for that, I would definitely pull the trigger if I am Parcells, and I would be ecstatic if we were able to make a deal for Quan. I should mention that the latest reports are that Fitzgerald is willing to restructure his contract so that the Cardinals could resign Boldin to the money he deserves.
Super Bowl 43
Well, even though the Dolphins aren't in the big game, it's still the best game of the year in any sport. The Super Bowl is finally here, and it features two teams that came from opposite ends. The Steelers have been, for the most part, cruising all year, and finished with a 12-4 record, despite having one of the league's toughest schedules. The Cardinals, on the other hand, started off hot, won the division with over a month to play, and ended the season about as poorly as you could possibly end it, including a 40 point loss to the Cheatri ... I mean Patriots. The Cardinals have not won because of offense in this Post Season, but rather their defense, as hard as that is to believe. Have they been scoring points? Yes, plenty; but it's been the play of their D that has gotten them here.
The Cards have Warner, whose been there, done that, and has gone through almost everything a QB can go through; from playing in Europe, to being a back up to Trent Green, to Super Bowl and League MVPs. And now, maybe his finest piece of work, he has lead the Cardinals to a Super Bowl Their first Championship appearance since like 1652 BC.
The Steelers, a lot of them, have also been there, done that, and you could tell today at media day that they clearly had been on this stage before. Pittsburgh is the clear favorite, and I do think that they will win. I find it very hard to believe that Dick Labeau will not use these two weeks to come up with an awesome gameplan. Mike Tomlin will have the boys fired up (not that they need to be...come-on now, it's the Super Bowl), and Big Ben will do his thing.
While the Cards have been playing superb as of late, I don't think that they'll continue this great run this weekend. Pittsburgh's D will be great as always, and I think that Roethlisberger has a great performance, capturing the MVP, and another ring. With all that said though, it will be a close game.
Steelers 23 - Cardinals 21
I'll definitely be rooting for the Steelers. While I usually root for the underdog, and the Arizona faithful (all ten of them), deserve a SB title, the team does not deserve it for the effort they gave in December. They should have been fined for a lack of effort, because it was ridiculous. Plus, I love what the Steelers are all about; I love Big Ben, I love Mike Tomlin and Dick Labeau, and I love that defense. While I don't even have anything that resembles a 'second team', I have to admit, if I did have one, it would probably be either Indy, or Pittsburgh. Since Dungy retired though, I have to go the Steelers.
So GO STEELERS!!
