Marshawn Lynch was held to 31 yards on 13 carries. That averages out to just under 2.4 yards per carry. That is the type of dominance the Dolphins defense displayed Sunday against the hated rival Bills. J.P. Losman started at quarterback for the Bills and the result was 4 sacks for the Dolphins defense along with one interception and several fumbles. Losman was harassed more and more as the game went on and even when he had time, the coverage was so good that he had trouble completing passes. He finished the game with 13 completions on 27 attempts for a blistering 123 yards and an interception. Joey Porter was able to sack Losman twice to bring his NFL leading sack total to 16.5 sacks. The Dolphins record for sacks is 18.5 held by Jason Taylor and Bill Stanfill. Porter is ahead of the pace to break that record. Will Allen picked off J.P. Losman in the endzone when the Bills were threatening to tighten the game up with a touchdown. Charlie Anderson sacked Losman once and forced two fumbles. Porter forced another. Lee Evans had 3 catches for 23 yards. These numbers show the defensive dominance, but the score doesn't accurately indicate how the Dolphins offense dominated the Bills defense. The Dolphins held the ball for 37 minutes and 31 seconds. The Dolphins rushed for 115 yards, had no turnovers, 18 first downs and only committed 5 penalties for 28 yards. If you play fundamentally sound football, you are sure to win even if you don't torch the other team. The Dolphins were able to dominate this game on both sides of the ball by taking care of the ball, despite only converting 4 out of 13 third down attempts. The Dolphins are tied with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets at 8-5 in the AFC East. This put the Dolphins in control of their own destiny. If they win out, they win the division. When was the last time the Dolphins had that type of control? Download the Free Phinfever Browser Toolbar
