Well this weekend’s game will be a perfect primer to the finale in NY. The weather is going to be bone-chilling cold on Sunday in KC. I hate to even think about this but this is the first cold-weather game Miami has had all season. That’s tough to imagine being that they’re part of the division where all the opponents hail from the Northeast. I guess it just gives me one more thing to worry about going into Sunday. As much as I keep reminding myself that the rest of the season is just icing on the cake, my aqua and orange blood makes me hope for a meaningful grudge match with the Jets. I really hope the Dolphins are getting up for this week’s game because it would be a real cruel fate to lose to the Chefs…er Chiefs. The Chiefs have a bad coaching staff and a very poor defense. They have virtually no pass rush with only 9 sacks on the year. Sounds like an afternoon’s work for one Joey Porter but things aren’t too good if your entire defense has only produced 9 sacks in 14 games. If that weren’t bad enough, they’re surrendering 4.9yds a rush for an average of 155yds a game on the ground. Wildcat anyone? If Henning doesn’t at least try this in the first period, he should have his head examined. The Chiefs rank 23rd in passing offense and 14th in rushing offense. Thigpen has actually done a pretty good job at QB since taking over in the 3rd game of the season. He reminds me a little of Jay Fiedler. His accuracy is lacking but he has a lot of heart. He’ll also take off running quite a bit. The formula to beat KC is familiar, stop the run then have fun. Here’s one of Thigpen’s most recent highlights against San Diego. The highlight reminds us of a not-so-cool moment earlier in the season and certainly one our DC needs to see. http://www.nfl.com/players/tylerthigpen/profile?id=THI677677 We’ve all heard the phrase “any given Sunday” and we all know what that means. Miami has to treat this game with the importance of every game before it. If they manage to lose here, it would mean they’re not going to the post-season without some serious help. Win here and they’re still in control of their own destiny. That is a nice feeling indeed for the players and fans that had to endure last season. A couple of side notes here: 1. Kudos to the Dolphins Fans. I spoke with my friend Karl who attended the SF game last weekend. He said on the last series it was so loud in the stadium that Hill couldn’t even communicate with the center. He said that of all the trips he’s made to the stadium, that’s the loudest he’s ever remembered it being. S. Florida Fans often get a bad rap so I want to include this to say thanks! 2. On a side note, I get to redesign PhinRock’s Signature due to a bet we made about Miami’s final record. I’m open to suggestions. You can either PM me or just post your suggestion on the board. 11-5 Bus baby….all the way!!! |
