Either Jeff Ireland is 1) A liar, 2) Has completely changed his philosophy...about everything...or 3) Stephen Ross is calling the shots. Fresh off of the decision to be featured on this summer's Hard Knocks, the Dolphins have signed 34 year old WR Chad OchoCinco. Chad is coming off of a highly publicized terrible season with the Patriots where, despite New England lacking talent at the WR position and having, in my opinion, the greatest QB of all time throwing him the football, Chad caught just 15 passes and one touchdown. Chad had a hard time learning an offense in New England that is predicated on pre-snap and in-play adjustments, and at (then) 33 years old, he seemed to have lost a step or two and wasn't creating separation. Personally, I'm perplexed. It's supposedly a one year, incentive based deal. That's fine; Miami won't lose anything if they decide to cut him mid-August. But what's the point? Are we contenders this season? No. Does Chad even have anything left? Even if he did, I'd still rather give those reps and opportunities to Clyde Gates and the other young WR's on the roster. Many are speculating that Ocho will take the place of one of the younger WR's, (possibly even Gates). I doubt it. I think Ocho battles it out with Naanee for the 3rd WR job; the loser gets cut. Regardless of what happens this season, one thing this move does guarantee is that Hard Knocks will be extremely entertaining for us all to watch. Download the Free Phinfever Browser Toolbar
