As most of us Dolphins fans know, Miami will be the featured team on HBO popular Hard Knocks series this summer, and I must say I am looking forward to seeing the show. For the most part, it has been received with excitment from Dolphin fans and consternation from the national public and the talking heads on the various networks from ESPN and the NFL Network. Miami has a pretty solid fan base nationwide, and while the star power may not be their like it was with the Jets or Cowboys, Kansas City was featured on Hard Knocks a few years ago and the Cheifs did not have a lot of star players when that show was aired in 2007. I was listening to the NFL Network and Jamie Dukes and Brian Baldinger and Baldinger made the point that the Dolphins could surprise some people with what they do coming out of the box because of first time HC Joe Philbin and his plans for the offense. He said that now, those plans will be exposed for teams to see. I give Joe Philbin more credit than that and while the Dolphins will have to work on putting in their new offense, I don't see this as being a factor. What Houston sees in Hard Knocks, the Dolphins opening game opponent and what they see in the 1st game of the season will be like night and day in my opinion. Miami has some very interesting storylines going into the season, from the battle for the staring quarteback position to the implementing of a new offense and defense, the new HC Joe Philbin and his staff and the battle at the wide receiver for the spots on the roster, the Dolphins will have many stories and battles this offseason and during camp. New coaching staff, new way of thinking for GM Jeff Irealnd and the football operations and a young team with a lot of questions to be answered going into the 2012 season. August 7 is when the first showing of Hard Knocks will air, and I can't wait.
