As we work our way thru June and towards July and the NFL Supplemental Draft, there is word out that Miami could be interested in Harvey Unga, the RB from BYU. Unga is available because of allegations that he broke a strict code at BYU of having premartital sex with his girlfriend.
Unga is scheduled to have a Pro Day July 8th, and it is speculated that he will be a 5th-6th round pick in the supplemental draft. If any teams drafts a player in the supplemental draft, they would lose that draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft in the round they drafted the player.
Unga is a 6'0, 237 lbs power back with nice hands. He is BYU leading career rusher with 3,455 yards and 36 career rushing touchdowns and a 5.0 yard average. He also has 102 career catches for 1,085 yards and 9 touchdowns and a 10.6 yard average.
The concerns on Unga are his speed and more importantly, his ability to stay healty, which was a concern at BYU.
Will the Dolphins pull the trigger, time will tell. Unga is a big, talented kid, but he is dealing with what Ronnie Brown is dealing with now, an inability to stay healthy.
To all the dads on the board, Happy Father's Day.
