Phinfever: George Gipson | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ --- | Clay has been a favorite pick for the Texans in mocks, but with the Texans bringing in Linebackers in Free Agency they may opt for help in the Secondary. It’s possible that Matthews gets picked before Cushing, which would drop Cushing, and that is just fine with me. Both players have the ability to play strong side in a 34 and be very good at it. In reality the Phins should be able land one of four pass rushers here, either Brown, Cushing, Matthews, or Ayers, it just depends on the order they go in. http://www.wikio.com/video/996585 Last mock: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois | 4/10 |
Phinfever: Tony Simmons | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ --- | 1) Clay Matthews Jr, OLB, Southern Cal, 6'3 1/8, 240 lbs. Very good size and size potential, instinctive and gives maximum effort and energy and the motor is always running hot. Is physical at the line, presses off blocks and pressures the QB and is a creative defensive playmaker. Played DE & OLB and is intelligent enough to play any linebacker spot. Has the movement skills and ability to cover TE and RB and can high point the ball, as he was a safety coming out of high school. Explosive, with a 1.49 10 yard time and was timed at 4.57 40 at the USC Pro Day. There are questions about his limitied production and time as a starter, but this kid was a walk-on and one of the most talented, if not most talented programs in the nation. Programs give there scholarship kids every chance to be the guy, and the fact that this guy came on and became a starter shows the work ethic and talent this kid has. Huge upside as a pass rusher. 2) Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State, 6'2 7/8, 210 lbs 2) Sean Smith,CB, Utah, 6'3 1/2, 214 lbs Last mock: no change. | 4/12 |
CBS Sportsline Clark Judge | Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | All I know is that when you play in a division with Tom Brady you can never have enough defensive backs. Last mock: Larry English, OLB, N Illinois | 4/8 |
CBS Sportsline Pete Prisco | Larry English | OLB Virginia Senior 6'3" 254 lbs 40 @ 4.68 | He's a speed rusher who can push for time as a rookie, then push for starting job next year. Last mock: no change. | 4/7 |
Consensus Draft Analysis | Percy Harvin | WR Florida Senior 5'11" 185 lbs 40 @ 4.35 | (no comment given) Last mock: Everette Brown, DE, Florida St | 4/17 |
| Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ --- | Bill Parcells loves stocking the defensive front seven. Last mock: James Laurinaitis, MLB, Ohio State | 4/17 |
| Darius Butler | CB U Conn Senior 5'11" 183 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | There's no telling what Bill Parcells will do here. Wide receiver, rush linebacker, and defensive back are all strong options. This will probably come down to Clay Matthews and Darius Butler, but corner back is the weaker area on the roster. Last mock: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St | |
Draft Ace | Larry English | OLB Virginia Senior 6'3" 254 lbs 40 @ 4.68 | Bill Parcells has a love affair with all the top outisde linebackers this time of year, and Larry English could be the lucky guy this April 25th. Even if the Dolphins bring back Jason Taylor, a young outside linebacker will still be a need. The Dolphins may also consider a wide receiver or cornerback here. 44 - Dolphins - Sherrod Martin, CB, Troy 56 - Dolphins - Ramses Bartin, WR, Cal Poly Last Mock: Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech | 4/13 |

Draft Daddy | Darius Butler | CB U Conn Senior 5'11" 183 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | The Dolphins need to get deeper at cornerback, Butler has great ball skills and versatility. Last Mock: Ron Brace, DT, Boston College. | 4/17 |
Draft King | Percy Harvin | WR Florida Senior 5'11" 185 lbs 40 @ 4.35 | The Dolphins could use a solid OLB, but instead of stretching to take one here the Dolphins could land an amazing talent in Harvin. Harvin has great speed, to be sure, but what makes him really stand out is his uncanny knack for not only running great routes but also in getting open. While I could see the Dolphins trading down here in Bill Parcells expert draft style, if Miami has the chance to draft Harvin here that could be a great move for a team that already has an emerging star with Ted Ginn, Jr Last Mock: no change | 4/6 |
Draft Notebook | Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | (no comment given) 44.Dolphins (from WAS) - Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia 56.Dolphins - Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma Last Mock: Aaron Maybin | 4/5 |
Draft Season (Lupagus) | Hakeem Nicks | WR UNC Senior 6'1" 212 lbs 40 @ 4.50 | The Phins need a big receiver who will compliment the speedy Ginn Jr. Nicks has some of the best hands in the draft and should be able to contribute his rookie year. The Phins should chirp with glee if they land him here. 44. DOLPHINS (FROM SKINS) - Alphonso Smith CB, Wake Forest - The Phins get a huge steal here and thank the Redskins for the gift of Alphonso Smith. 56. DOLPHINS - Eric Wood C, Louisville - Yes they signed Grove but I'm not sold on him. Even if he does pan out, Wood can slide over and help out at guard if needed. 87. DOLPHINS - Darry Beckwith LB, LSU - Because every offense fears a linebacker named Darry Last Mock: Derrius Heyward Bey, WR, Maryland | 4/6 |

Draft Zoo | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ 4.67 | The Dolphins need a corner, but they also really need an outside LB. Everywhere Bill Parcells has been he has built his defenses on standout LBs. Joey Porter’s play really trailed off at the end of last season, and he may be nearing the end of his great career. On the other side, Matt Roth is improving, but he is certainly not above an upgrade. Matthews has seen his stock rise perhaps more than any other prospect, and his motor that never quits running. He’s a hard worker that should excel as a rush linebacker in the 3-4, especially since he spent some time at DE at USC. I really like this pick, but I have to admit that with Andre Goodman gone, the Dolphins will give a long look to Vontae Davis if he is available. 44. MIA — DJ Moore, CB, Vanderbilt, 5089 192, 4.58 – Miami is likely to take a linebacker and a corner with their first two picks. Moore is dropping because of his size and his 40, but there is no denying his ability to play corner. He was a big part of Vandy’s bowl win and the Dolphins need a corner now that Andre Goodman is gone. 56. MIA — Pat White, ATH, West Virginia, 6000 197, 4.50 — Pat White would be awesome in the wildcat formation. Finally a team could have a legitimate threat of passing from that set. And, if Chad Henne doesn’t eventually pan out, he could become the QB. Plus, he gives the Dolphins another option at WR. Maybe my favorite pick of the draft.. | 4/12 |
East Coast Sports | Conner Barwin | OLB/DE Cincinatti Senior 6'4" 256 lbs 40 @ 4.66 | The Dolphins are looking to add a WR, a CB and a pass-rusher...Barwin has been flying up the boards, and has the size and speed Parcells loves. Last Mock: Robert Ayers, OLB/DE, Tennessee | 4/17 |
ESPN Insider Todd McShay (subscriber) | Kenny Brit | WR Rutgers Senior 6'3" 218 lbs 40 @ 4.47 | Top three needs: CB, WR, NT It will be interesting to see if Bill Parcells drafts an offensive skill player, which traditionally has not been his style. There is no arguing Miami's need for a wideout opposite Ted Ginn Jr., and Britt is climbing up a lot of draft boards with his combination of size, strong hands and better-than-expected top-end speed. Last Mock: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC | 4/12 |
ESPN Insider Mel Kiper (subscriber) | Malcolm Jenkins | CB Ohio St Senior 6'0" 204 lbs 40 @ 4.55 | Jenkins has all the qualities you look for, with the exception of top-flight recovery speed, which is an obvious concern. Even so, he's too good an overall performer to pass up in the middle of the first round. Last Mock: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois | 4/12 |
Fantasy Football Extreme | Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | (no comment given) Last Mock: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida. | 4/15 |
Fantasy Football Jumgle | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ 4.67 | The biggest need for the Dolphins is at WR, and the obvious pick here is Darius Heyward-Bey or Hakeem Nicks. However, knowing who is drafting for a team is as important as identifying a need, and with that being said I cannot see the Big Tuna (Parcells) taking a WR with his # 1 pick. Rather, I see Parcells going with a player more in his mold, which fits Clay Matthews to a tee. Matthews, although an initial walk-on, should not be misconstrued as an overachiever. He proved he was good enough by playing for a USC team stacked with 1st round LB’s and also showed his merit by blowing away scouts at the Combine. Coming from a family with deep blood lines in the NFL, Matthews is the essence of a ‘football player’. For the Fins I could see him pushing Matt Roth for time and ultimately being a replacement or a starter opposite Joey Porter. For their 3-4 Matthews holds a lot of value here. Another option here is Darius Butler or Vontae Davis at CB, James Laurinitus at ILB and namely Darius Heyward-Bey or Kenny Britt at WR. But at the end of the day, Matthews feels like the pick for Parcells and the Fins. Last Mock: no change. | 4/17 |
FF Toolbox: Colon | Rey Maualuga | ILB USC Senior 6'2 " 250 lbs 40 @ 4.75 | 25. They could look at WR where Maclin and Harvin are still available. But Bill Parcells likes to build up the defense. Their incredible 2008 season obscure the fact that the Dolphins still lack the horses on defense to stay with the best offenses in the AFC East. Parcells will look for help at inside linebacker where current starter, Akin Ayodele, is more of a backup than a starting caliber player. Maualuga style and passion is what Parcells is all about. 44. MIA: Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State WR Ted Ginn, Jr. had a good year. He is explosive and can become a special weapon. Nevertheless, there is no much playmaking ability after him on the roster. Robiskie is a solid route runner who is always around the ball. 56. MIA: Clint Sintim, DE/OLB, Virginia With a new ILB and a WR in the bag, the Dolphin will concentrate their efforts in building roster depth. They can certainly use a starting DE now, but this pick is for the future. Sintim is a very athletic player who slide because of lack of speed and burst. Last Mock: no change. | 4/13 |
FF Toolbox: Dimon | Percy Harvin | WR Florida Senior 5'11" 185 lbs 40 @ 4.35 | 25. MIA: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida The Dolphins will probably use one of their first two picks on a receiver, and they could be tempted to do it right away depending on how the 24 previous picks go. Harvin would be another explosive addition to the Wildcat offense. 44. MIA: Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee Miami might go in this direction in round one if it decides to pass on a receiver. 56.MIA: Asher Allen, CB, Georgia Allen could jump into the second round after his impressive pro day at Georgia. Last Mock: Larry English, OLB, N Illinois | 4/13 |
FF Toolbox: Weida | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ 4.67 | 25. MIA: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC Miami needs help at receiver, but Clay Matthews would also fit nicely at rush linebacker. Matthews is a tremendous football player with a non stop motor. Bill Parcells will also love his NFL bloodlines. 44. MIA: Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State Brian Robiskie is NFL ready and a perfect compliment to fellow Buckeye Ted Ginn. 56. MIA: Duke Robinson, G, Oklahoma Robinson is another piece to what is quickly becoming one of the best lines in the NFL. Last Mock: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois | 4/15 |
FF Toolbox: Weiser | Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ 4.67 | MIA: Clay Matthews, LB, USC Bill Parcells likes to draft outside linebackers and there is no reason to look past Clay Matthews if he falls to Miami. The Dolphins have bigger needs, but this is a steal this late in the first round. Matthews has shot up draft boards once he emerged from the shadows of fellow USC linebackers Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing. 44. MIA: Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut Darius Butler is another cornerback who could just as easily go in the first round.. 56. MIA: Fenuki Tupou, OT, Oregon Fenuki Tupou should be one of a few offensive tackles Last Mock: no change. | 4/14 |
| Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | Davis may have some attitude issues, but at this point his physical talent is too much to pass on. The Phins need help in the secondary, and Davis is as physically gifted as any corner in the draft. Last Mock: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC | 4/17 |
| Jeremy Maclin | WR Missouri Sophmore (RS) 5'11" 198 lbs 40 @ 4.46 | With Bill Parcells running the Dolphins, you can never count out the possibility of him adding an athletic rush linebacker. Maybin will intrigue Parcells. Last Mock: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida | 4/13 |

LA Times: Sam Farmer | Hakeem Nicks | WR UNC Junior 6'1" 212 lbs 40 @ 4.50 | The Dolphins need help on the offensive line, too, but the elite tackles are gone in this mock. | 4/11 |
MSNBC Evan Silva | Sean Smith | CB/S Utah Junior 6'3 " 214 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | Smith appears to have overtaken Vontae Davis as this year's No. 1 true cornerback prospect. The Dolphins' starters would be 31-year-old Will Allen (entering a contract year) and highly inconsistent Eric Green if the season began today. Smith, whose size, ball skills, and hip fluidity will make Bill Parcells drool, has a Nnamdi Asomugha-like skill set. Last Mock: no change. | 4/4 |
NoOffseason | Kenny Britt | WR Rutgers Senior 6'4" 214 lbs 40 @ 4.55 | When you look at the Miami Dolphins team, what’s missing? A big possession WR that can make plays in the red zone and demands double coverage. We love Britt, and if he lands in a spot like Miami, he could end up being an NFL number one WR within his first two seasons, making his dynasty potential pretty steep. Britt will be a great late second round rookie dynasty draft flier. 44. Miami Dolphins (from Washington Redskins) - Max Unger, C/OG, Oregon - Bill Parcells is always looking for a great value, and he gets one here while improving his offensive line. 56. Miami Dolphins - Marcus Freeman, OLB, Ohio State - A Joey Porter clone? With the “mad sacker” approaching 32 years of age, it’s time to start lining up his long term replacement. Last Mock: no change. | 4/14 |
NFL.COM Charles Davis | Kenny Britt | WR Rutgers Senior 6'4" 214 lbs 40 @ 4.55 | The Dolphins can add a tough receiver to aid Ted Ginn, Jr. in the passing game. Video Clip | 4/17 |
NFL.COM Steve Wyche | Kenny Britt | WR Rutgers Senior 6'4" 214 lbs 40 @ 4.55 | The ultra-productive Britt may have moved ahead of players such as Hakeem Nicks after postseason workouts validated most of his strong collegiate career. The Dolphins need a bigger playmaker at wide receiver who can stretch the field. Video Clip | 4/17 |
NFL.COM Jamie Dukes | Percy Harvin | WR Florida Senior 5'11" 185 lbs 40 @ 4.35 | This is an intriguing decision for the 'Fins because Harvin is the ultimate "Wildcat," though he's not polished at all as a receiver. He also helps in the kicking game. This is a true coin toss. Depending on 40 times, North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks could be the guy, but Maryland's Darrius Heyward-Bey could also go here. Video Clip | 4/17 |
NFL.COM Pat Kirwan | Kenny Britt | WR Rutgers Senior 6'3" 218lbs 40 @ 4.47 | The Dolphins didn't have enough receivers last year to scare anyone. Britt just ran a 4.47 at his pro day and he's a big target from New Jersey, home of Bill Parcells. Second round: No. 44, Larry English, OLB/DE, Northern Illinois Video Clip Last Mock: no change. | 4/17 |

| Tyson Jackson | DE LSU Senior 6'4" 296lbs 40 @ - | Parcells believes in adding size and athleticism to the defensive line | 3/3 |
NFL Draft Blitz | James Laurinaitis | ILB Ohio State Senior 6'3" 244 lbs 40 @ 4.58 | Speaking of players who don’t qualify as scheme guys, expert after expert has declared that Laurinaitis is not strong enough to hold up in the 3-4. Bill Parcells knows a good football player when he sees one and Laurinaitis is as good as they come. He will make tackles and quailify as one of the better cover Linebackers in the 3-4. He has the football intelligence to adjust. Last Mock: Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn St | 4/17 |
NFL Draft Countdown | Everette Brown | DE Florida State Junior 6'4" 255 lbs 40 @ --- | When it comes right down to it wide receiver is probably the Dolphins #1 need but you know Bill Parcells isn’t taking one in the first round. With that being the case The Tuna sets his sights on the defense, where Miami has holes to fill at both cornerback and outside linebacker. When doing mock drafts it’s important to look at a decision makers history and it’s no secret that Parcells loves linebackers and has used first round picks on them everywhere he has been. Joey Porter just had the best season of his career but he isn’t getting any younger and they could certainly do better than Matt Roth on the other side. There will likely be a number of good 3-4 linebacker prospects for the Dolphins to choose from here but Everette Brown is definitely the best value. Everette Brown | Florida State Seminoles There is still some question as to what position Brown will play in the NFL but there is no doubt about his ability to get after the quarterback and even though he came out as a junior and was only a full-time starter for one season Brown still managed to accumulate 46.5 tackles for a loss and 23.0 sacks during his college career. The Dolphins also need another cornerback since Andre Goodman bolted as a free agent and Will Allen is due to hit the open market next offseason so Vontae Davis and Darius Butler will probably draw serious consideration as well Last Mock: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC. | 4/14 |
NFL Draft Dog | Everette Brown | DE Florida State Junior 6'4" 255 lbs 40 @ --- | Brown (6' 4" 257 lbs) recorded 12.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss for 2008. A perfect 34 outside linebacker. The closest thing to DeMarcus Ware in this draft. Last Mock: no change. | 4/3 |
NFL Draft Scout Rob Rang | Robert Ayers | OLB/DE Tennessee Senior 6'3" 272 lbs 40 @ 4.80 | The Dolphins will consider a wide receiver with this selection and are rumored to be particularly high on North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks. Pass rushers are more of Bill Parcells' style, however, and he could be swayed by the impressive upside Ayers showed as a senior. Last Mock: Conner Barwin, TE/DE, Cincinatti. | 4/16 |
| Clay Matthews | OLB USC Senior 6'3" 240 lbs 40 @ 4.67 | GM Bill Parcells likes to draft linebackers for his team's 3-4 defense. Cushing can play inside or outside in the scheme, has plays with the intensity that Parcells and his coaches like. 44. Percy Harvin, WR, Florida: Last year DeSean Jackson fell into the mid-second round despite his great talent, and Harvin has enough personal and injury issues that he may follow suit. 56. Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech: Zone corner who can contribute immediately. Last Mock: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois | 4/13 |
| Larry English | OLB Virginia Senior 6'3" 254 lbs 40 @ 4.68 | English gives them a power player off the edge who can play on all three downs. | 4/13 |
NFL Fanhouse | Darius Butler | CB U Conn Senior 5'11" 183 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | Miami would love to get a wideout here, they also lost some of their secondary to free agency Last Mock: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC | 4/8 |
| Hakeem Nicks | WR UNC Junior 6'1" 212 lbs 40 @ 4.50 | 25. Hakeem Nicks would be a nice pick up for the Miami Dolphins here. Nicks would really help round out the receiving core with his playmaking ability after the catch and physical style of play. I can't say for sure Nicks is or will be the top receiver on their board, but based on their current personnel I feel he would make the most sense. The Phins would get a nice value here with Nicks and add a weapon for Chad Pennington. If the Dolphins don't feel this is the right direction to go I think Michael Johnson (to play OLB), Sean Smith or another cornerback (depending on their board) would make a lot of sense too. A sleeper pick could be Jarron Gilbert or Lawrence Sidbury here, but I don't see either as all that likely. 44. Miami Dolphins (from WAS) - Sean Smith, CB, Utah The Dolphins get a very intriguing, versatile player here in Sean Smith. Smith is absolutely huge for a CB, but has shown he has the feet, hips, and speed to play CB. Smith is a physical player who could easily be penciled in at safety if the Dolphins feel that's his best fit. Either way Smith brings a lot of value with this pick. 56. Miami Dolphins - Pat White, WR, West Virginia Perfect pick here for the Dolphins. Unlike other teams the Dolphins consider the Wildcat a part of their offense and not just something they occasionally throw in. Pat White is an absolutely great fit for the Wildcat. Even though he's been a bit hesitant to accept a role as a full time receiver, I can see his potential there. White is a terrific open field runner and reminds me of a young Hines Ward with a better arm. Lock this pick up if White is still on the board. Last Mock: no change. | 4/17 |
Ourlads | Max Unger | OG Oregon Senior 6'4" 305 lbs 40 @ 5.30 | Will start at OG but can play OC or tackle as needed. Helps plug any weak spots in offensive line. | 3/1 |
| Larry English | OLB Virginia Senior 6'3" 254 lbs 40 @ 4.68 | BP loves pass rushers and English is a guy who could explode into the next J Porter as he's got everything 3-4 OLB needs to succeed. Last Mock: Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC | 3/31 |
Phin Phanatic: Reader Submission | Alphonso Smith | CB Wake Forest Senior 5'9" 195 lbs 40 @ 4.4 | Like the Patriots, nobody knows who Parcells and Ireland have targeted here or anywhere for that matter. Larry English is a strong possibility but in the end Smith is too hard to pass on with his talent and the Dolphins need for a CB now that Goodman is gone. (Pete) | 3/12 |
| Robert Ayers | OLB/DE Tennessee Senior 6'3" 272 lbs 40 @ 4.80 | The Dolphins may have a more pressing need at wide receiver, with Chad Pennington needing more playmakers. However, just as important is finding a rush linebacker who can be groomed to replace the declining Joey Porter, who fell off late last season. Last Mock: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC | 4/17 |
| Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | Team Needs: Rush-LB, WR, CB, S, OL Depth NOTE: Dolphins will be looking for a physical young CB to replace Andre Goodman who signed with the Broncos. They recently signed veteran CB Eric Green from the Cardinals, but he is not a starting CB, he is more of a Nickel/Dime CB. Davis would be a steal for the Dolphins if he falls this far, Parcells would love Davis very physical style at CB. 44. Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers 56. Cody Brown, DE/OLB, U Conn Last Mock: Larry English, OLB, N Illinois | 4/6 |
Sports Fantasy Guide | Malcolm Jenkins | CB Ohio St Senior 6'0" 204 lbs 40 @ 4.55 | Jenkins was an all-american CB at Ohio State and is a very good athlete. His closing speed is the only thing holding him back. He may have to be moved over to Safety but should still be a very good pro football player. Last Mock: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC | 4/16 |
Sports Illustrated's Don Banks | Kenny Brit | WR Rutgers Senior 6'3" 218 lbs 40 @ 4.47 | Although I think the Dolphins will be tempted to snatch up Rey Maualuga just before the Ravens do, their need at receiver is too glaring to overlook in the first round. I can see Jersey guy Bill Parcells making the call in a favor of a Rutgers kid, can't you | 4/17 |

| Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | The secondary is horrendous in Miami and they would love to snag Davis who is rated #1 on the Dolphins DB Board. Last Mock: Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest | 4/16 |
Sun Sentinel | Peria Jerry | DT Mississippi Senior 6'2" 299lbs 40 @ 5.00 | Bill Parcells never met a big, strong defensive lineman he didn't like. By Bob Glauber | Newsday Last mock: no change. | 4/5 |
| Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | 25. The Dolphins should take all but five seconds to make this pick. With cornerback as their most pressing need and Vontae Davis still on the board this pick seems too easy. Davis is a playmaking cornerback and falls to 25 because of team needs and questions about his work ethic. Malcolm Jenkins may be drafted higher than Davis, but Davis is the one with the higher ceiling. Has a chance to be a pro bowler he can be that good, if he wants too. OLB is another option. 44. Miami Dolphins - Larry English, DE/OLB, Northern Illinois The Dolphins get their pass rushing OLB in English to complement Joey Porter. English to many experts is considered a 1st round prospect. 56. Miami Dolphins - Derrick Williams, WR, Penn St. Davone Bess was the #2 WR on the team at the end of the year. That is all I need to say. I am not saying Bess isn't good, I just think the Dolphins could improve its WR corps. 87. Miami Dolphins - Sherrod Martin, CB/FS, Troy After drafting Vontae Davis in round 1, the Dolphins add to their CB depth with Martin, who can also play free safety. Last Mock: Larry English, OLB, N Illinois. | 4/11 |
| Ron Brace | DT Boston College Senior 6'3" 334 lbs 40 @ 5.52 | 25. Miami Dolphins – Ron Brace, DT, Boston College Once again, how hard is it to fill the 3-4 nose position? I expect Parcells will trade back a few spots first which will make this selection more palatable although he needs to be sure the Colts and Titans would not snatch him up. Perhaps their desire to do so justifies just taking him here. 44. Miami Dolphins (via WAS) – Larry English, DE/LB, Northern Illinois Someone needs to pick up the slack across from Joey Porter. English is possibly a first round selection and opinions vary wildly on where he will land. This could be low for him. 56. Miami Dolphins – Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah This pick is with an eye on the future. He can be a nickel corner and backup free safety. Last Mock: Derrius Heyward Bey, WR, Maryland. | 4/15 |

Miami Dolphins – Aaron Maybin, OLB (3-4), Penn State Maybin slides a little bit as far as where a lot of people have him graded but I think this is about right for him. He is a Parcells guy and can really get after the passer. He slides to me because of the simple fact that he never ran well and he only really had one good year in college. However, he does have a high ceiling, there is no doubting that. Last mock: no change. | 4/9 |
| Duke Robinson | OG Oklahoma Senior 6'5" 329 lbs 40 @ 5.27 | (No Comments) Last Mock: Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech | 3/23 |
The National Football Post | Larry English | OLB Northing Illinois Senior 6'3" 255 lbs 40 @ 4.75 | English gives them a power player off the edge who can play on all three downs. Last mock: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC | 4/17 |
The NFL Draft Site | Vontae Davis | CB Illinois Junior 5/11 203 lbs 40 @ 4.40 | Davis may not as fast as his brother but he is still plenty fast to be a CB and he has the attitude and character to back it up. Davis not afraid to come up in run support which is something the Tuna looks for in any player. This looks like a logical pick when reviewing the Miami Dolphins current secondary roster Last Mock: Derrius Heyward Bey, WR, Maryland | 4/12 |
The Phinsider | Darius Butler | CB U Conn Senior 5'11" 183 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | I'll admit it - this is the first year in a while where I'm completely stumped on what the Dolphins will do with their first round pick. It's that wide open - and Bill Parcells never lets any info leak out. We all know that the Dolphins could go in a variety of directions here - with CB, OLB, and WR the three most likely. So why do I think Butler is now the guy? I just don't think Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland will spend a first round pick on a WR when it's known that Bill thinks receivers are "a dime a dozen." There is some good value at the receiver position in rounds 2 through 4 this year. And I don't think any remaining outside linebacker on the board is worthy of the 25th pick. Butler, meanwhile, has the ability to come right in and battle for the starting corner job opposite Will Allen. He has the best footwork of all the corners in the draft. He also probably possesses the best change of direction ability of all the corners. And his 43 inch vertical makes up for his lack of ideal size - though he certainly isn't short at 5'10 and a half. Last Mock: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC | 4/17 |
The Sporting News (TSN) | Clint Stintim | OLB Virginia Senior 6'3" 254 lbs 40 @ 4.68 | They want to upgrade at inside linebacker. Sintim is a big, physical inside force who would be a solid fit in their scheme while playing next to Channing Crowder. 12 (44) Miami Darius Butler CB Connecticut Cornerback is a sore spot. Butler brings excellent athleticism and the tough, aggressive and physical playing style Bill Parcells loves 24 (56) Miami Austin Collie WR Brigham Young They love WR Davone Bess, but Ted Ginn is nearing his end in Miami. Collie is a sharp and precise receiver with great hands. 23 (87) Miami Rashad Johnson S Alabama | 4/17 |

Total Pro Sports | Aaron Maybin | DE/OLB Penn St Junior 6'4" 248 lbs 40 @ 4.65 | Corner has become a top need for the Dolphins. Butler is simply the best one on the board. WR is another possibility here but Parcells is notorious for drafting defense in the first round. B- Asante Samuel W- Nick Harpe | 4/14 |
| - | - | Jim Corbett Connor Barwin, DE/LB, Cincinnat Nate Davis Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State Derek Harper Aaron Maybin, DE/LB, Penn State Sean Leahy Connor Barwin, DE/LB, Cincinnati Matt Pitzer Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State Rob Rang Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina Larry Weisman Percy Harvin, WR, Florida Scott Zucker Percy Harvin, WR, Florida | 4/13 |
Walters Footbal Matt McGuire | Darius Butler | CB U Conn Senior 5'11" 183 lbs 40 @ 4.53 | Looking at Bill Parcells' previous 10 first-round picks, four were spent on linebackers. Two were used on corners. The other four were on an offensive tackle, defensive end, wide receiver and quarterback. Based on the Tuna's history and the first 24 picks of my 2009 NFL Mock Draft, I'm betting that this is either Connor Barwin or Darius Butler. And considering that corner is now a much greater need in the wake of Andre Goodman's departure, I'll go with the latter. Miami has nothing across from Will Allen. The team signed Eric Green, but that was just to a 2-year deal worth $6 million. Green will be used for depth; nothing more. Cornerback is still a huge need, with rush linebacker being a close second option here. 44.Miami Dolphins: Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State Ted Ginn and Davone Bess both have their strengths, but neither wideout is a massive target. At 6-3, 207, Brian Robiskie could be the solid split end Miami was looking for when it signed Ernest Wilford. 56. Miami Dolphins: Clint Sintim, DE/OLB, Virginia Joey Porter really slowed down toward the end of the 2008 campaign (one sack in his final four games) and the Dolphins could use another body to get to the quarterback; excluding Porter, no Miami player had more than five sacks. Even worse, the Dolphins failed to register a single sack against Baltimore in their first-round playoff loss. Last Mock: Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia | 4/14 |
War Room Report | Aaron Maybin | DE/OLB Penn St Junior 6'4" 248 lbs 40 @ 4.65 | 25. The new regime in Miami, Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells turned the Dolphins from a laughing stock into a playoff team in one year. Joey Porter really turned it on in the Dolphins system, finishing with 17.5 sacks, but the Dolphins could use a more imposing player on the other side. Aaron Maybin is a bit undersized to play a full time defensive end spot in a 4-3 scheme, but his pass rushing abilities could project very well to a 3-4 OLB spot. Maybin totaled 12 sacks and 20 TFL in just his second year in college and has a huge upside as his body develops. The Dolphins also could consider D.J. Moore here, or a WR like Kenny Britt. Brian Cushing and Clint Sintim are also both available and are more complete 3-4 OLB than Maybin, and may be the choice if the Dolphins feel Joey Porter can contribute for several more seasons. 44. Miami Dolphins - D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt The Dolphins continue to overhaul their defense, and add a playmaking defensive back here at the 44th overall pick. D.J. Moore did not work out as well as expected, but when you go back to the game film it is clear to see that he is a playmaker and a football player. He actually saw action on the offensive side of the football and possesses an amazing nose for the football. 56. Miami Dolphins - Andre Brown, RB, NC State The Miami Dolphins turned the NFL on its ear with their “wildcat” formation a year ago, but they have to develop a more consistent rushing attack if they are to take it to the next level. Ronnie Brown is a stud, but Ricky Williams may not be coming back so the Dolphins need to get another back to compliment with Ronnie Brown, and Andre Brown may just be that complimentarily back. Last Mock: no change. | 3/20 |
