Here's how Haskins and Murray compare to the last QB1s selected since Luck in some critical areas. Think of this as adjusted completion percentage. The colors are tiers. Green = top quartile in my database. Then Yellow, Orange, and Red, in that order.

I'm still not convinced that the QB situation can be resolved by simply drafting the best QB available, either this year or next. We HAVE to fix the trenches. It's a requirement at this point.

Imo if a qb comes along that is the guy then do what it takes to get him. You don't have to play a qb the first year you take him.

Don’t necessarily succumb to the temptation to draft 5-10 Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.

“Kyler Murray is the kind of player who can take you to the playoffs or can be hurt his second game,” Johnson said. “He is exciting and a great college player, but he is undersized and a big part of his game is mobility and mobile quarterbacks in the NFL don’t last very long. But he is great player and exciting. It would be a tough call for me for the long haul. I would be hesitant.”

What I've been reading lately is that Haskins is by far and away the best available QB on this year's draft board according to multiple random NFL scouts quoted anonymously, and he would be at best QB4 or QB5 in last year's draft.

Matt Miller's was the latest post I've read this in.
