Dave, remember I believe it was 1995 when the Dolphins had 19 former first round draft picks on the roster, we started out 4-0 that season and sports writers had us going to the Superbowl.
I went to opening day that year and we trounced the Jets 52-14. Won the first four then lost our next three. I'll never forget Miami going to the playoffs that year at Buffalo and going down 27-0, only to lose 37-22. Miami could not stop the run, which was a problem back at the end of the Shula days.
Yep, that team was a real disappointment as there was so much internal turmoil on the team ... especially when the wheels fell off during the season. I remember us being lucky to even make the playoffs that year. It sounds to me that he didn't have a plan or had been given enough time to come up with a plan on how to fix the team for the next season. He definitely wasn't the same coach that he was 10 years earlier.
Shula was end of our integrity. Since then we've had JJ, Nick Saban, Bill Parcells, and Jeff Ireland.
