I can tell you with certainty that’s how Ireland sees the coming months. He doesn’t just need players, the Dolphins have plenty of those. Ireland wants playmakers that make game-changing and game-defining plays. He wants to find ways to get the offense more points and score points on defense.

In other words, Ireland isn’t going into the offseason to draft more guards or chase defensive tackles in free agency.

Long’s time short

That means free agent Jake Long’s days with the team could be over. Frankly, even when Long was great he never won or lost a game. He didn’t run for yards or catch passes, and he didn’t stop anyone from doing it. Lots of teams with worse left tackles went to the playoffs while the Dolphins stayed home.

That would leave more salary cap space to spend on wide receivers. That means the Dolphins don’t have to be so frugal at tight end. The Dolphins would have more money to help Ryan Tannehill get the football in the end zone.

so the Dolphins will try to re-sign Bush, according to team sources. But because they have Lamar Miller on the roster — and Miller is 218 pounds and runs a 4.4 and his time is coming — the Dolphins will only re-sign Bush at their price, not at his.

If we part ways with Long and receive the max compensatory pick we could wind up with six picks in the first three rounds. If that happens, we're in a very good position to inject a lot of talent into this roster.

Don't compensatory picks the following year?

Here is my wishlist in no particular order:
1 - Speedy Outside Receiver
2 - Outside Shutdown Cornerback
3 - Big Redzone Receiver
4 - Starting Caliber Right Tackle
5 - Seam Busting Tight End
6 - Ballhawking Free Safety
7 & 8 - Pass Rushers (Front Seven)
9 & 10 - Athletic Interior O-Linemen

Between our five draft picks in the first three rounds and our $60M in cap space I'm hoping we can add most or all of these things. I'm hoping we find the majority of them in the draft.
