I guess it was his game to do nothing. He and Hartline like to take turns. Tannehill tried to get him involved in the offense but he dropped few passes and did not seem on the same page as Tannehill. I thought he played terrible in a game where we really needed him to have a good game.

Quote:
Davone Bess comes back to earth in loss

Davone Bess caught one pass for 13 yards in the Dolphins' Week 13 loss to the Patriots.

Bess is supposed to be a sure-handed possession receiver, but an early-game drop set the tone. He saw six targets compared to 10 for Brian Hartline and never came close to getting anything going down the field. Bess is now on pace for 74 catches, 970 yards and one touchdown heading into next week's "hands-off" matchup in San Francisco.

I think both teams were a bit off yesterday. Should be interesting when we have to go to NE.
I agree with you point about Bess & Hartline Dave.

He didn't have a good game. Then again, he drives Bellichick crazy so I'm sure they tried their best to take him out of the game.

That's the thing though ..... Tanny's gotta learn to spread the ball around a little. A lot of what he does is pre-snap reading and taking the ball there.

Come on, we have 4. Moore and Mathews...lol. Gafney and Ocho are still on the street. SHows you how misplaced the coaches thought processes are.

When Matthews has gotten into games, Tannehill has thrown him the ball. While Matthews is a promising young prospect, he's mainly a special teams player at this point in his career. Moore is what he is, a special teams player, nothing more nothing less. I can remember our special teams coordinator pounding the table to keep him on Hard Knocks despite his inability to produce at WR. Moore was really never meant to see the field except on special teams. It just worked out that way after Johnson and Gaffney busted.

I don't think it's an issue of Tannehill spreading the ball around. I think it's an issue of Hartline and Bess being the only two players on the roster who have been able to consistently get open. That and the rest of our options are somewhere between mediocre and bad.

You have the right to that opinion.

I still disagree with it fully from what I've seen. That'll be one of the things I would like to see improved upon in his second season.

That Brady needs to spread the ball around more also....Lloyd only had 1 catch in that game and was only targeted once all day.

In fact Brady targeted less players with 11 more passes

Is this what you do all day long?

You take an argument and then find an example of some HOF player doing the same thing and attempt to exonerate the player we're talking about because of it?

Brady has a resume. He's shown he can do it all. Tanny has not. Stop making these ridiculous 1 to 1 comparisons.

I think we'll find out next year. I'm pretty sure Ireland sees adding a top tier wideout as one of his biggest priorities next year. In fact, I could easily see us adding two new targets for Tannehill. I'm hoping we can add a speedster (WR) and a big physical redzone type (WR or TE). If we do that then I think we'll see Tannehill take a big step forward. Of course I'm assuming we take steps to improve the o-line as well since Jake might be gone and Incognito/Jerry are struggling. If I had to guess I think the offense is going to get a significant overhaul this offseason as Philbin and Sherman keep bringing in their type of players.

Every year since '99.
