 Rishard Mathews
I feel like I'm saying this very week but why do we wait until the end of the game to get him the ball? As soon as he got in Tanny throws a 20 yrd pass to him. What is Philbin doing with this kid? Is it me or does anybody else notice this?

I notice it too. I don't get it. I'm not saying pack the season up, I still want to win, but give some of these younger guys some playing time. Lamar Miller and Egnew come to mind.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
Matthews is the big body receiver that this offense is starving for. He's a tackle breaker.

We haven't even seen him play in an NFL game.

We haven't even seen him play in an NFL game. In the Pre Season he couldn't even get open against guys who aren't in the league anymore. He's worthless. Hates him coming out of Mizzou, hate him even more now...Can't do anything at this level.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
Actually in preseason he DID get down field and was open, he just did not catch the ball. Obviously he has mental issues or SOMETHING is preventing him to being on the field. Hopefully, this off season he improves. He is a big kid, a seam buster, I hope he still comes around.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
Love Matthews and he was really the only guy making plays in the preseason... and continues to do so in minimal time in the regular season.
For a weak position, it absolutely baffles me why hes not in.

For a weak position, it absolutely baffles me why hes not in. Matthews not playing much, Bush being taken out at odd times, our starting DE's being taken out on the last drive. There's an awful lot of head scratching going on because of on-field personnel moves.

And I was blasted and ridiculed for questioning his lack of gameday experience... He's showing it.

He's showing it. I'm not afraid to criticize him even though I supported his hiring.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
Well, he has a lot of on-the-job learning to do, just like his rookie QB.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
I know it won't happen but I'd love to see the last 4 games be audition time for rookies and second year guys.
Pair Matthews up with Hartline in 2 receiver sets. Let Martin be the new left tackle. Give Miller 10-15 carries per game. See if Clay can get out there and run good routes the entire game. Devise a quick strike game plan so Tannehill doesn't get killed and they accept that balls will be intercepted and routes won't be perfect, but at least they'll be taking chances.
Where is Jeff Fuller? Lets see if he can catch some jump balls in the Red Zone.
What does the team have to lose at this point? Still two tough opponents in SF and NE.

 Re: Rishard Mathews
No excuse for him to not make the field a lot in the final 4 games. If he doesn't, then we also have issues with the coaching staff that need fixed.

I agree and where is our up tempo fast paced offense? I was and am still pro Philbin but his game managing with player personnel is starting to worry me. Reggie Bush was heating up on some long runs and then he hits the sideline to put in DT! Why is DT catching more balls out of the backfield than Bush? He is not a good open field runner!

We lack the "horses" to run the type of offense our staff wants. But just give it another season or two and I think we'll see the kind of offense our staff wants to run being run. Wait until we add a few more targets to the passing game. Wait until we scrap our bulky linemen for quicker more athletic ones. Basically wait until we've had two or three drafts to properly overhaul the roster and bring in the kind of guys Philbin, Sherman, and Coyle want. After the roster has been overhauled, and our staff has their group of guys, then we'll see what kind of product they're capable of putting out there. Then it will be just a matter of what kind of quarterback Tannehill is and whether or not our staff knows how to properly develop talent.
