Re: Jason Babin cut by the Eagles.
I don't like signing players from other teams when they are cut, but this guy is/was a beast. I believe he is 3rd in sacks over the last three years. Imagine him and Wake as bookends. Word out of Philly is that they have a rookie waiting in the wings. I just think he quit playing hard.

Babin is 5th in the NFL in QB hurries right now, despite only having 5.5 sacks. He'd only cost 1.6 million against the cap this year, and he was only given 5.5 million guaranteed in his original deal. I'd definitely put in a waiver claim.

With that type of cap number, he would be worth a look. The Dolphins obviously need a pass rusher still opposite Cam Wake.

There has to be something more to this than wanting simply to let younger guys play. Babin is a very good football player. There had to be some sort of issue going on behind closed doors because you don't just cut a player of his caliber mid-season like this without something happening. If the guy's head is right, and he's available, I'd say go for it.

Sometimes its just they do not fit the system or they were not putting forth the effort needed & got the message when they were cut. Miami cut Qadry Ismail & he went on to have 4 very productive yrs in Balt & Indy before retiring. So just because a player is cut does not mean he cannot play in the NFL. As for Babin. Sign him at a reasonable salary for two yrs. He is 32. At worst you would get a situational pass rusher

I agree with you. Most of the time though these guys don't work out for the team that picks them up. Heck, free agents hardly work out. there is a reason you are cut or not resigned. Like you said though, if the price is right, do it.

Re: Jason Babin cut by the Eagles.
Babin is due like 1.5 million the rest of this year and would be like 2.5 next. And could be cut without a hit We better be putting in a claim.

Re: Jason Babin cut by the Eagles.
Quote: Defensive end Jason Babin, who was released Tuesday by the Philadelphia Eagles, was claimed on Wednesday by the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end's release was the first major roster move for the Eagles, who lost seven straight games.
Babin had just 5.5 sacks after recording 18 last year. He signed a five-year, $28 million deal last summer after going to his first Pro Bowl with Tennessee following the 2010 season.

Miami put in a claim, but so did 5 other teams that had a higher priority.

I thought the Redskins would have gotten him.
