This is exactly why I'm worried about this Sunday. In their last 12 games against the Jets, regardless of win or loss in that game, Miami has lost all 12 of their following games.

Indy is going to be emotional at home. We have to find a way to match that intensity.

I'll predict a win, but I'm honestly 50/50. We're the better team, but on the road, off Jets week...It's going to be a real test.

I think I remember hearing a ESPN reporter say miami was 1-3 against the Jets after the bye. These things only mean something if we are the same team like we have been for the last 14 seasons. And so far, we aren't.

I agree, this Philbin team seems very different than teams of the past. We're winning, but not only that, we're winning with a young football team. If we can keep this group together, we'll be a very good football team for a long time. The key this week is to get Tannehill healthy, hopefully healthy enough to play. Then we need to win the game, no matter who is under center. Even if Moore has to play again, we need to find a way to win.

A couple more interesting stats.

Miami has never won a game in which the other team scored more points.

Miami has never won a game during the bye-week.

Miami has never lost a game during the bye-week.

Miami has never won a game after the Superbowl.

Miami has never lost a game after the Superbowl.

Just saying...

If this was some random team, and it wasn't 12 in a row, that would be one thing. But there is something to be said for bouncing back after an emotional win/loss, which Jets games always are.

And this team is nothing like last year's team, or the one's before. In fact, this team is like no other team in team history. Those historical stats mean squat.

Actually, it's a bit worse.............since the start of the 2005 season till now the Dolphins winning percentage is less than 43%. On average, we've been pretty bad over the last 6+ years, and by chance we've generally played the NFL's elite after Jet's games. That 0-12 streak also includes our first game loss to the Texans this year, since our last game in 2011 was against the Jets. Pretty sure the Jets game wasn't a big factor in that one.

Indy has struggled against good D's.........blown out by the Jets and Bears. Every game makes you sweat, but we really should beat them by 2+ scores.

people wanna pick the Colts because of Andrew Luck, but in reality Miami is the better team and has been the better team all year.

The same Jets team that we just destroyed beat the Colts 35-9. I think thats a more telling stat than this 0-12 business. They also just barely eeked by the terrible Browns and titans.

Our defense is leaps and bounds better than Indy's. They have a better top receiver. We have the better backfield and line too.

Miami is +1 against the Broncos/Cincy spread 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving, 3 weeks removed from Junkies annual meltdown....

The last 6 seasons spoke to our coaches, not a statistical anomaly about our Miami Dolphins.
Saban 15-17 back to college
Cameron 1-15 back to OC
Sparano 29-32 now a struggling OC

Phlibin 4-3 With a rookie QB & running new systems on both sides. I believe he knows how to address the emotional recovery & refocus. Something tells me that his years of working in Lambeau Field have taught him a couple things about big games & the week after.

There is also something to be said for new season, no coaching staff and streaks are meant to be broken. They do not go on forever.

Like I said, I expect Miami to win today. But I think it's going to be a much tougher game than most people expect.

How they played vs. the Jets has nothing to do with it though. That would be like saying well the Redskins beat the Giants last year in Week 1 and we pummeled the Redskins so we're better than the Giants. This league is all about how the two team's facing each other match up against one another.

Indy
Passing Offense: Ranked #11, 265.9 yards/g, 8TD's/8INT's, 18 sacks
Rushing Offense: Ranked #19, 107.1 yards/g, 5 TD's
Points For: 136
Passing Defense: Ranked #5, 213 yards/g, 13 TD's/2 INT's, 15 sacks, 11.5 ypc
Rushing Defense: Ranked #25, 137.4 yards/g, 4.8 yard/carry, 8 TD's
Points Against: 171
Takeaway/Giveaway: #30 (-10)
Special Teams (Returns Against): Ranked #21 Kick returns 26.1 yards/return
Special Teams (Returns): Punt #19 w/7.8 yards/returns & Kick #28 w/19.7 yards/return

Miami
Passing Offense: Ranked #28, 212 yards/g, 5 TD's/6 INT's, 14 sacks
Passing Defense: Ranked #15, 115.9 yards/g, 3.7 yards/carry, 10 TD's
Points For: 150
Passing Defense: Ranked #25, 281 yards/g, 8 TD's/8 INT's, 22 sacks, 12.1 ypc
Rushing Defense: Ranked #2, 82 yards/g, 3.5 yards/g, 2 TD's
Points Against: 127
Takeaway/Giveaway: #21 (-2)
Special Teams (Returns Against): Ranked #14, kick returns 21.8 yards/return
Special Teams (Returns): Punt #5 w/12.8 yards/return & Kick #6 w/27.9 yards/returns

Our edge is clearly in the special teams and defensive department which is why we have been in most games. The team definitely needs it's running game to find an identity again vs. their suspect rush D. Hartline's groin injury could also prove to be an issue for us in the pass game.

I respect their passing offense a little more than you do and the yards per catch we give up still scares me a bit. Luckily we've generated sacks this year which has helped to get them off the field in key situations and we're the best in the league on 3rd down.

As for Philbin and this staff knowing how to keep the team from suffering from coming down off the emotional Jets win? We don't know how they can handle that yet, so this is a huge test. As PR pointed out, historically it's a trap game. That cannot be argued against. Vegas has the Colts getting 2.5 points as a home dog, which is very curious to me, especially with Chuck Pagano being in attendance. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney are going to be back int his one. The Colts are night and day when play at home vs. on the road, especially Andrew Luck. They also have quality wins vs. the Vikings and Packers there. We have zero quality wins on the season.

Based on these stats Rock, Miami "should" have a better day running the football. I was surprised to see that Indy is actually ranked #5 against the pass. No question this game will come down to Miami being able to control the clock (running the ball), minimize mistakes, special teams and certainly constant pressure on Andrew Luck.

The NFL, especially the AFC, is as equally matched as I can remember. Knock out the top and bottom 5, and you can make a credible arguement the remaining 22 teams are closely matched. You're statement that we have no quality wins is a bit strong.........we beat Cincy and destroyed the Jets on the Road.............those are quality wins.

The name of the game is consistency week in and week out............we are currently carrying the longest winning streak in the AFC with 3 straight wins............got to keep it going.

Cincy 3-4
NYJ 3-5

vs.

Minn 5-3
GB 5-3

From a growth stand point, the road wins were great for our team ..... but in the overall picture, they were not wins vs. quality oppenents.
