Dolphins Talking Points: Matt Moore is too valuable to trade
Quote: by Ben Volin A trio of Dolphins talking points on this Tuesday morning:
1. Matt Moore is too valuable to trade.
It’s a tough dilemma for Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland, who is looking at the prospect of losing Moore in free agency this offseason as Moore pursues a starting job somewhere across the league.
Wouldn’t Ireland look smart if he were able to flip Moore for a third- or fourth-round pick after signing him off the scrap heap for two years and $5 million last summer? He still has two days to work the phones, as the NFL pushed back the trading deadline to Thursday because of Hurricane Sandy.
But a good team source told me in the preseason that the Dolphins weren’t looking to trade Moore, and a different source gave the same vibe on Monday. At this point in the season, trading Moore could be fatal to the Dolphins’ playoff chances.
...
What a luxury it is for the Dolphins to have a starter-quality quarterback on their bench in case Tannehill gets hurt. Tannehill’s prognosis for this Sunday’s game is in question, but the Dolphins can still go into the game confidently with Moore

Moore would be a draft day trade. They won't trade the only vet QB mid season when we are tied for 1st. I would definitely be open to a draft day trade. Especially if it involved moving up in the first to get a super stud WR.

With Tannehill's health in question this week, it almost forces us to keep Moore, even though trading him yields the greatest value in the long run. It would have been nice to get some picks out of him, but in the end I think we got something else that is good, a win.

I dont see there being an open competition here next year. It would be nice if Moore would sign an extension for backup money, he'd certainly provide us with some value off the bench. But I just don't see it happening that way. I think he'll get a Matt Flynn type deal in free agency next year.

Could always bring in David Garrard again... idk there's always a backup QB out there... just gotta jump on that train early.
Hell Matt Cassel could even be available lol
