Eagles signed WRs Marvin McNutt and B.J. Cunningham to their practice squad.
McNutt passed through waivers unclaimed, confirming he's not especially highly regarded around the NFL. A sixth-round pick in April, McNutt caught one ball for 13 yards in the preseason. Cunningham, who was drafted by the Dolphins, had five catches for 38 yards in four exhibition games. McNutt is the better prospect.

Camp body. Nothing to see here. He'll be cut by the first week of August.

His WR's coach at Iowa is on our coaching staff so we know a lot about him. Might be a good fit in the WC system as a solid backup....Philbin loves depth at WR!

Dolphins pick up ex-Eagles WR Marvin McNutt
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... in-mcnutt/
Quote:
It did not take long for former Eagles wide receiver Marvin McNutt to find another NFL home. The Dolphins were awarded him on waivers Wednesday, according to the league’s transaction log.

McNutt (6-2, 216) was a 2012 sixth-round pick of the Eagles, who waived him on Tuesday. McNutt will compete for a spot in a Miami receiving corps that is seemingly set at the first three spots (Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson). Rishard Matthews, Armon Binns and Jeff Fuller are among those vying for roles beyond the top three wide receivers.

McNutt appeared in four games last season for the Eagles after being promoted from the practice squad on November 30. The Iowa product turns 24 in July.

Interesting pick up. I remember several people on these boards that thought we should draft him in one of the later rounds last year. I think at the very least he'll be a guy to compete with the other young receivers we've got. I like the competition we'll have for the 4th and 5th receiver spots. Between Matthews, Binns, Fuller, and McNutt I think we'll find a solid pair of young receivers to mix in with Wallace, Hartline, and Gibson.

And s-l-o-w legs. At least we gave him a shot. Look at his competition. I still think Mathews will win out though.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that McNutt, Matthews or someone else surpasses Gibson for the 3rd spot. Gibson's definitely not a lock to be a starter.

Gibson is not a starter. Wallace & Hartline.

Technically you're right, but the No. 3 receiver is generally an integral part of the West Coast Offense.
