One of the stupidest moves Ireland has made, if not the stupidest.
Can't even describe my level of frustration for this team.

Re: Vontae Davis is a Colt!
Vontae's been a headcase goin all the way back to his Illinois days. I remember alot of teams taking him off of their first round boards because of behavioral issues. Vernon has them too but Vontae was even worse. I believe he got benched during his senior year and that sent up big red flags.

Cite me examples of his problematic tenure WITH the Dolphins prior to this situation where he reported to camp under-conditioned. There aren't any. This is nitpicking by the organization and they cannot afford to squander talent. I don't know who the heck they think the are right now, they are in no position to be casting people like this off yet.

Can't even describe my level of frustration for this team. Is it just him? Philbin's been on his backside all TC. I know Ireland pulls the trigger, but he's not doing that on his own account. They discuss these issues with players .... Right now I am not happy with either guy.

We have 3 players left from the 2008 and 2009 drafts.
Serious question, is that normal for the NFL?

LOL....I predicted correctly that Ocho and Davis wouldn't be around here too long after the first hard knocks episode. It's not that hard to predict really so I'm not butt hurt at all by these moves.

Who says Ireland will be the GM during the next draft, Ross sounded cautious when asked about Ireland's long term future with the team.

Re: Vontae Davis is a Colt!
Yeap, silly me..I was looking forward to the best secondary this team has had since Surtain and Madison roamed back there. The trio of Marshall - Davis -Smith....they would've been really tough to beat. Now I guess we put Nolan Carroll in there. Like I said, I'm pissed. If they use it to secure a needed WR I'll see the need for the trade. Otherwise we just traded away a good CB for a bag of footballs given Irelands draft record.

A nice chip for what? For whom? What pick will it be in the 2nd? Who's going to be making the selection? Will it be Ireland or somebody else? Too many variables to be throwing a party about moving VD considering his talents and impact on the team when in the game. All we need to do is look at last year when he was out.

If Ross is letting Ireland make moves like this, he's definitely going to be here next year. So that nice little "chip" next draft will surely land us another Martin, Misi, Thomas, Henne, Merling, or White.

Re: Vontae Davis is a Colt!
What's the longest period of time a GM has single-handedly managed a rebuilding process in the NFL?
Ireland must be getting close to some type of record. Going on 5 years now? We're starting to look like the LA Clippers of the NFL.
This is getting as bad as Corporate America, where the blame is always on the workers, and never on the executives making all the decisions. I guess the only saving grace is that the Dolphins executives, after years of mismanagement, can't just outsource our team to India or China.
London maybe.
But not India or China.
I hate to say it, but I'm going out on a limb and guessing that Vontae is psyched to be out of here.
Good luck to him.

oh ya Rock in regards to what bad stuff has Davis done??? I forget that he showed up at practice last year smelling of booze which caused Marshall to call him out and started a fight about it. So don't tell me the guy has no baggage.

I remember that one incident ......one which he responded very well to after the fact. The two situations we have now discussed have not jeopardized the team. They are maturity issues with a guy who's a young 24 year old. The other thing that pisses me off is why wait to trade him AFTER the whole world has seen what a jackwad you made him out to be on Hard Knocks? Talk about horrible timing and losing value.

Miami is clearly preparing the franchise for a big 2013 offseason. I think Philbin will get the majority of his pieces next year.....which sucks for the fans wanting immediate success this year.

As much as I liked Vontae, he didn't seem to really take his position seriously. I know this is gonna be a up & down year, and I'm debating doing the $unday Ticket again this year. Ive been a die hard fins fan since early 70's so I will pay the money and weep as we take our share of growing pains.

There aren't too many more dangerous places to be than to be between Ireland and a penny. Even Bush was a bargain. If the veteran doesn't come with a discount, he doesn't come to Miami. Oh, and who can forget the comments about Dez Bryant's Mom. Classy. Like I said, if he parlays this into a package for Bowe or Wallace, I'm all for it.

Re: Vontae Davis is a Colt!
Ireland is actually improving IMO. We just got prob a top 35 pick for a backup CB, and the 3 biggest babies on the team are now gone. They werent helping us reach the playoffs anyways so those crying about talent, cry elsewhere.
People need to understand, Ireland did his job. Coyle and Philbin deemed Davis excess so Ireland got full value.
