Who steps in for Porter this year
Okay...given the current crop of OLB's who should start? Assume JT has been resigned. Comment on if you think Miami will have a decent group if your vote comes true.

Re: Who steps in for Porter this year
Since we can assume that Jason Taylor has been resigned, I would say he would be the starter. He get's to move back to his natural side now that Joey is gone, he better in the run game than Cameron and he also has shown the ability to drop back in pass coverage from time to time. I
Considering everything last year, 7 sacks and everything that Jason contributed was pretty solid. IT will be interesting to see how Mike Nolan uses Jason. I still think you need to be careful with Jason and the number of snaps he takes right now in his career.
Also, I really hope Cameron steps his game up, as Miami needs to get him on the field more because he is so explosive. But he has to be a more complete player.

Re: Who steps in for Porter this year
Cam Wake......with another offseason under his belt and a full season of play he should be better suited to play more snaps at OLB next season.
JT needs to stop starting, and start coming off the bench in obvious passing situations for his ability to cover ground/attack the passer.......plus that will help keep his legs fresh come playoff time.
On the other side will be the player drafted come April. I believe the fins will have two new starting OLB's to go along with their new starting ILB in Dansby.

I like Charlie Anderson he is a guy who has made some plays in limited time he has seen the field. Same with Wake, I genuinely believe we are gonna be a better team with these two guys than with Porter playing full time.

Since everyone including "captain obvious" get the point of the question, should I re-write it to make you happy?

Re: Who steps in for Porter this year
If JT is back, I would say start him if he is healthy at Porter's old spot. I still believe JT has some gas left in the tank and he played with a bad shoulder last season, so again, if healthy, you start him and draft a young kid to rotate and get mentored.

Re: Who steps in for Porter this year
At this point, considering that JT has not been resigned and there is no hard guarantee that he will, I vote for a guy to be signed.
I hope that even if he is resigned we can get a new body in there and use JT as a situational guy. He was never great at stopping the run, and he's ancient in NFL years. Keep him fresh and have him concentrate all of his physical effort on what he does best: rush the passer.
