Post Richie Incognito in for a visit
I remember when the Bills picked him up during last season. He's a wacko, but a real good, mean, physical offensive lineman.

He would have a legit. shot at winning the starting RG spot, IMO.

Quote:
The Dolphins are expected to bring in unrestricted free agent G/C Richie Incognito for a visit next week, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Jackson says that the Dolphins put in a claim for Incognito after he was cut by the Rams in December, but lost out to the Bills in the waiver process. If Incognito could control his temper, he'd fit right in with the mauling offensive front of the Dolphins and push Donald Thomas and Nate Garner for the right guard job.

I must say it's not good that he was voted the NFL dirtiest player from the players standpoint, But as a fan I love it. Especially considering how dirty the Jets are. Hopefully he comes in and takes care of buisness. Would love to see him pile drive Bart Scott. HAHAHHAHA. Well not really cuz that would go against Sparano's theory of hidden yardage.

He fits the mode of what Miami wants in there OL, big, physical mauling type of offensive lineman. But Richie certainly has to do a much better job of controlling his temper.

Drawing 15 yard personnel fouls penalties can kill drives and he has already cost himself a job because of his temper.

He would push Donald Thomas for a starting job... and make our depth A LOT better.

If he couldn't make it on one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, what on earth warrants a starting spot for the Dolphins?

Then he'll b sent packing with nothing lost.

What's not to like? We didn't break the bank by any stretch. We need help at the position and he is good. If he is uncontrollable, he'll get cut with no loss to us.

All we have is something to gain.

No, he has not signed yet, he is just coming in for a visit. I certainly think there is a good chance Miami will sign him.

I'm just expressing concerns with Richie and his temper. The guy can play the game, he just needs to be able to control his temper.

Any other teams even looking at this guy or do we sign him by default?

Parcells doesn't like drive-killers. Perhaps he's learned a little something after losing his job twice in two years.

He could make it. He got cut because he cursed out his own coach. The guy is good. Just a hot head.

He's only 26, but he won't get away with that with Sparano either.

Quote:
Incognito has started all 47 of his NFL games but was cut by St. Louis in December after committing two personal-foul penalties (for head-butting Tennessee players) and verbally confronting coach Steve Spagnuolo.

I think he's bad news.

He withdrew from Nebraska in 2004 after being suspended for repeated discipline problems, including misdemeanor assault.

At least most of the time he takes out his aggression on the OTHER team, lol. IF he can be controlled, he's a great pick-up. Maybe in a platoon with Thomas he could keep himself focused.

So, we can entertain a problem lineman but not a problem WR?

Inognito doesn't require draft picks, a big contract, or even guaranteed money for that matter. With this being the uncapped year, there is almost no risk in picking this guy up.

Exactly. Marshall's problems were more off the field and in the club house than on the field. He's a high-dollar, diva receiva with a criminal record. Incognito's problems were his temper. He's a low-dollar, low-risk/high reward player. Low risk + high reward = smart signing.

High reward? When he goes on the field and gets back to back 10+ yard penalties you'll be wondering why they even let him visit.

It doesn't have to be Marshall. I'm sure we'll pass over Dez Bryant for the same reason.

As for upside, I think transforming our offense is worth it.

He committed 11 personal fouls in his four seasons with the Rams. His tenure ended when he was flagged for two personal fouls and had a sideline confrontation with Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo in one game.

"There's a fine line, especially when you play offensive line," Incognito told Darlington. "You're coached to play through the whistle, and I've always been toeing that line. Always over and back. It was a real good wakeup call getting cut in St. Louis. I was really comfortable there. I'd been there my whole career.

"Getting moved out of there to Buffalo, it really made me look at the error of my ways. It was really a blessing in disguise to get cut out of St. Louis."

At least he is aware of his antics... Although his off the field behavior may be more detrimental....

Whole story here.

When Richie Incognito hit the waiver wire in December, the Miami Dolphins noticed.

They placed a claim on the evicted St. Louis Rams guard. But the Dolphins didn't get him because the Buffalo Bills, with a worse record, had dibs.

We were willing to take the chance then, why not now? The interior line is a nasty place. You want the nastiest bunch of glass eaters on your side of the ball. That being said, if he doesn't control the penalites, Parcells will not tolerate it. As said earlier, he hates drive killers.
