During his six NFL seasons (one in Arizona), Marshall intercepted 17 passes, had seven sacks while forcing three fumbles and recorded 500 tackles (434 solo). The former Fresno State star, who was selected in the second round (58th overall) by the Carolina Panthers in 2006, exceeded 80 tackles four times and finished with 78 (69 solo) last season. Marshall has recorded three or more interceptions in five of his six NFL seasons.

The NFL Network voted a play by Marshall as the "Number 1 play of the 2008 pre-season". The play involved Marshall intercepting a fake field goal flick from the holder to the kicker and running it back for a touchdown.

Can he throw?

Glass half empty much? The Phins got at least their nickle back, who, if you hadn't noticed, was not currently on our roster by most estimations. Or in best case scenario, he's ready to step into a role pushing Smith as a starter. Either way it's progress. One less "need" for the draft.

It's unclear whether he's signed as a nickel CB or a safety.

Man....16 million a year aint to be a nickel CB. He starts at safety, I think.

It's a three-year, $16 million deal, including $6 million guaranteed.....16 over 3 seasons.....

If he pans out, it's a great deal for Miami.

Who pays 6 million guaranteed to a nickel corner and/or guy that "may" be a starter. Especially when we have 1. no pass rusher opposite Wake, 2.

Had no idea new Dolphins nickel corner Richard Marshall was as solid as he seems to be, per Pro Football Focus. Ranked 29th out of 109 qualifying corners last year in pass coverage, 52nd overall.

It's the offense that needs serious work (this is a recording)

Pro Football Focus ranked Antonio Cromartie 30th in the league in coverage for corners. Charles Woodson was 31st. Leon Hall, top corner for new Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle last year in Cincy, ranked 34th, while Vontae Davis was 39th in coverage.

Or to put it another way, the Cowboys just gave a five-year, $50.1 million deal to ex-Chiefs CB Brandon Carr, who ranked 21st in the league vs. pass (per PFF). Richard Marshall, who ranked 29th, just signed with Dolphins for three years and $16 million ($6 million guaranteed). Solid value, right?

From what everyone is posting and I am reading, he seems like he'll be a good fit. I'm not familiar with the guy either, but from the improvement on AZ pass defence in 11, I'd say he helped a little bit at least and we need all the help we can get on pass D!! I'll take it!
