Should White face QB completion in training camp/preseason?
IMO there are a couple of issues here.
I feel strongly that with one of our 6th round picks we should draft a tall, strong armed QB if for no other reasons but to get another arm in camp and to push Pat White into competing for a roster spot at QB. Remembering that that he could be listed as a WR or even kicker and come in to play where ever.
He faced no competition last year I think one big reason being his draft status.
Chad Pennington has a home here now and does not want to leave because of this family. He wants a no trade clause in a new contract which is a sticking point from what I understand. He does have interest from other teams.
I like Tyler Thigpen and I believe strongly that us trading him would be a huge mistake. I'd like to see Pennington and Thigpen fight it out for the number two spot.
Putting aside my personal dislike for the Pat White pick I do really think that the best thing for him to become a NFL player or even a NFL QB is to face real completion. This would either force him to improve his QB play or give him a wake up call to start learning and running pass patterns in order to play WR. To me, I think his small hands and little experience playing WR will be a big mountain to climb. In fact, i think that is one reason he was never seen even semi practicing playing WR.
I personally think that our best line up would be Henne, Pennington and Thigpen at QB with White moving into the WR/slash slot.
The truth is that due to Pat White draft status he will be on this team somewhere next year (see Jason Allen).

I'm confused by the question.

Yes he should face competition as all the players should.

And with Chad Pennington resigning, we now have 4 QBs.
We cannot trade Tyler Thigpen, you keep talent and add to it.
If Chad Pennington's arm does not pan out we have NO ONE to back up Chad Henne.
Trading Thigpen is a really dumb idea.
If Pat White cannot crack the top 3 what do we do with him?

Feed him to Terrence Cody after drafting him.

No, White should not face a QB completion. No QB should face a completion. That would mean we are lining up our QB in the secondary.
They should make plenty of completions, though.
