Dolphins Intrested In Sharper As A Fall Back Option
Beat writer Omar Kelly passes along speculation that the Dolphins could pursue free agent FS Darren Sharper once Antrel Rolle signs elsewhere. Kelly seems to believe the Dolphins are out of the running for Rolle. Sharper hasn't drawn interest in the initial free-agency wave, but he appears to be a fallback option for teams missing out on Rolle and Ryan Clark. Source: Omar Kelly on Twitter here is another one.

Seeing how Mr. Clark is going to remain a Squeeler, I wouldn't mind bringing Sharper in for whatever money we were going to give Clark/Rolle. It might not be enough for him either. Even at 34 years of age, 71 tackles, 9 Ints and 3 TDs is getting it done. I'd love to get even 5 Ints and 1 TD out of the FS position this year. Sharper had 15 PD, and 376 yards of Int-return yardage. That's more than Fasano had receiving (339). You know what we had? 72 tackles, 8 PD, 0 Ints, 0 TDs.

I say we just go after someone in the draft. I mean while our rookine CB tandem didnt exactly become shutdown corners, I think this experience of no wait time may pay off in the next season or two..
Why not go after the Safety the same way... Mays or Jones... Both are big physical guys.... I say the h*** with these money hungry primaddona's ......

Sign Sharper to a shorter deal.

Sign Sharper to a 2 year deal, and if the opportunity arises, draft Berry. Those two at the back with Clemons, Allan, Smith & Davis would be pretty damn good.

Berry will be off the board way before we get to pick. IMO

Re: Dolphins Intrested In Sharper As A Fall Back Option
This probably explains why there has been no activity on Darren Sharper.
Source: Sharper couldn't have passed a physical Posted by Mike Florio on March 8, 2010 11:18 PM ET Earlier tonight, word emerged that free-agent safety Darren Sharper underwent knee surgery two days before the start of free agency.
So why did he do it then? Per a league source, his knee was so swollen that he couldn't have passed a physical.
Thus, he had no choice but to get the procedure done.
For now, it appears that Sharper could still land with the Saints. It's believed that a couple of other teams might be interested.

Yeah, I wasn't in any way feeling the need to replace Bell just yet. He's the SS, and I think we can win with him. It's FS that's a gaping, oozing hole right now.

Re: Dolphins Intrested In Sharper As A Fall Back Option
As a fall back option??? Sharper had an incredible year last year and was a critical part of a defense that stepped up to help the Saints in the SB. How this guy isn't our first option is baffling.
Yeah, he's getting up there in age, but we don't have a starting FS for next year and the FA market is now looking thin. Drafting a FS means waiting a few years for it pan out, and we need someone for next year.

Re: Dolphins Intrested In Sharper As A Fall Back Option
Miami will probably have to do what Cleveland did with Scott Fujita and over pay him. Supposedly New Orleans has offered what is considered by both sides to be a fair deal.
I think he would be a great fit, but how much do you want to pay a 34 year old safety now coming off a knee surgery. We don't know what type of damage was repaired, but that now has to be a concern.
We will find out once Sharper starts taking visits to know if Miami is still interested. If so, this could easiliy end up being another Ryan Clark situation.
