 Davone Bess contract situation
I was looking at the Restricted FA's and such....And I ran into Davone Bess's name as a Exclusive-Rights free agent. http://www.footballsfuture.com/2010/fa/wr.htmlWhich means (according to this site): Quote: Exclusive-Rights Free Agents (ERFA)
An Exclusive-Rights Free Agent is an NFL player who is not under contract, but has only two years of NFL experience. If his former club makes him an offer at the three year veteran minimum salary, then that's it, he has to take it or leave the NFL. These guys have no right to negotiate with other teams. They are "free" only in the sense that they're free to quit. http://football.calsci.com/FreeAgency.htmlSooooo, I think we'll be hearing something soon. Hopefully a nice 2-3 year deal for Bess?

He deserves a good contract....but not one that is too crazy. The guy catches everything, but he doesn't get yardage after the catch and he is not a homerun threat......solid slot guy....but that is all.

Bess' average YAC are 5.1 in 2008 and 4.8 in 2009. Randy Moss' average YAC are 5.2 and 3.8, including a 3.0 YAC in his "greatest season ever" in 2007. I'll even compare him to the guys you think are "clearly" better than him. Sidney Rice- 2.3 in 2008, 4.0 in 2009 Dwayne Bowe-4.6, 3.7 Mark Clayton-4.6, 2.5 Sinorice Moss-2.5, 0 Jordy Nelson-3.0, 4.0 I could keep going, but I think you get the point. Davone Bess is one of the best in the league in YAC.

Either way, he is good at what he needs to do for our team and thats what matters

I hope this guy becomes a franchise type player. I love everything about the guy and think he has what it takes to be a great NFL player. I say get the deal done asap, keep him happy and keep him in Miami.

Davone Bess has been a great add value to the fins offense and I expect him to get even better. I dont take anything for granted and hope we lock him down on a nice long term contract. I love watching this guy play receiver. He is smart and knows how to get open.

But Frustrated stated that Bess doesn't get yards after the catch, and that is just false.
