According to Cordero, Mississippi running back Dexter McCluster spoke to the media today. McCluster said he had already interviewed with the Dolphins.
That's significant because the Dolphins loved McCluster at the Senior Bowl, spent a lot of time with him there, and clearly found nothing that eliminated the Mississippi WR-RB-Specialist from more scrutiny.
From Cordero:
McCluster measured in at [5081] and expects to run in the 4.3s. He will work at both RB and WR Sunday. He loves returning - especially punts - and says he is willing and able to cover punts as well.
I don't think we take a guy like him before round 3, but I love the fact that we have interest in him. The guy might not be the bowling ball Darren Sproles is, but he is every bit as quick, elusive, agile, and fast as Sproles.
I remember watching him against Tennessee this year and I was blown away. I labeled him the next Sproles on the boards, and ironically the next day Mel Kiper did the same...;p
He looks like he's playing a video game on easy in some of those runs. If he's willing to return kicks and punts I'd be glad to see him in Miami.

Well...the blocking in the video was often superb, and on many plays the Tennessee "D" didn't even assign anyone to cover him or hold the edge. He has great speed, but fast guys are a feature in the NFL.

That's a very good point jammer. You could also turn that around though and say, 'they learned their lesson last time, so this time around they won't take one before X round....'

I love McCluster as a player. He so very explosive. Go back and check the game against Florida last year when Ole Miss beat the Gators in the Swamp. Kid played a big role in that game and he is a playmaker, plan and simple.
I really hope we don't use a high draft pick on this kid...he has shades of being John Avery part two!

Well he has one of those names you expect to hear in the NFL..
I guess it depends on where we take him and who else is available...
I think round 3 is still a critical part in our drafting, after that we can begin to take shots...
Also its nice to look. But If we fill a couple spots in FA (WR / LB) we may just be able to grab a needed RB in round 2...
Too early to tell for me..

He ran a 4.58 today, which isn't impressive. He does look really fast in the game, though.

He's quicker than fast, but I agree he plays a lot faster than 4.58.
That 40 was not indicitive of how fast his game speed is.

Spiller only shined in the 40. Jahvid Best seems to be a better bet....tops in the 40, tops in the 3 cone (ability to change direction), good numbers in the 20 yard shuttle (lateral quickness). I doubt Best or Spiller will be there when we pick in round #2 though and I doubt we go with either as our 1st round pick.
If you are looking for a guy who fared well across the board, then Montario Hardesty might be the guy to look at.....He isn't the homerun hitter though.....kind of reminds me of Ronnie Brown though....he would fit in well in Miami.

That's because that is all he participated in.

....and when a guy doesn't participate in the drills, you have to ask yourself what he has to hide......
