Post Cromartie on the Block
http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/02/17/charger ... cromartie/

I know Miami has two young guys at corner, Will Allen, and a great nickel in Nate Jones, but a guy with ball skills like Cromartie do you consider it?

Well it depends on what they want. Would I give up a 2nd OR a 3rd... probably.

The Chargers are looking for a RB in return. I am an FSU guy an Antonio Cromartie is a supremely talented kid, but Cromartie will want a new contract becasue he has 5 or 6 kids by different moms and he has money problems to say the least.

On top of that, we already have a guy that is not a good tackler in Sean Smith and Cromartie has been shying away from contact lately.

he is a good special teams player. I don't know where I could find the in-depth stats for Jones as a nickle, but I know that it would be less than impressive. All I can find is QB's had a rating of over 80 when targeting his man or area, not "great" like you all think.

I was the only one that said great, and I meant he can man the position, no problem. Those stats are out of whack, as is every one on defense. Not having a NT, safeties out of a position and defensive coordinator that couldn't play call his way out of out a wet paper bag will hurt everyone's stats.

When it's obvious that if you motion Andre Johnson from the flanker position to inside the slot guy that the nickel will move inside and the corner will take the outside, you're doomed before the ball is even snapped.
Three times that happened against the Texans, all of which were completions, one for a TD....it's crap like that that creates horrible stats...so watch the players, not their stats.

Regardless...name me a nickel corner that is better.

Andre Johnson's TD he was not in motion, he lined up in the slot and Nate Jones had him. We sent the house, Jones was responsible for not letting AJ to his inside. Where did Andre Johnson end up? Inside, easy 6, made Nate look silly.

thank you for the sound advice. I'm enlightened. So stats are only right when you say they are?

You're right, Johnson was not in motion. The running back was. You'll notice the coverage shift a little. Yes, Jones was lined up on him, but what do you expect to happen when you're asked to press on Andre Johnson and you're given absolutely no help? It didn't make Nate look silly, it made Pasquoloni look like an idiot.

If you want to spin things out of proportion like that, sure...the stats are only right when I say they are.

I was super pissed with Pasquoloni. But Jones still should have kept him to his outside, tougher throw for Schaub, and if he scores it is easier to deal with. Maybe I've been holding that against NJ, because he is a descent player.
