Dolphins jump to #10 in Special Teams (from #30)
It was obvious in games that the dolphins special teams units took a big leap forward this year. Edgar Thompson wrote: In the annual special teams rankings by NFL expert Rich Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News, the Dolphins improved 20 spots, jumping from No. 30 to No. 10.
The Dolphins were 30th in the NFL covering punts last season, while allowing two touchdowns. This season, Miami was tied for 16th this season and allowed only one return longer than 30 yards.
The Dolphins went from 24th to 12th in kickoff coverage - a category in which Miami ranked last for more than half the 2009 season.
Miami ranked sixth in punting, up 14 spots.
Behind Ted Ginn Jr.’s 100- and 101-yard TD returns Nov. 1 at the Jets, Miami was 11th in kick-return average after ranking 30th in 2008.
The Dolphins did take a step back returning punt. The team tied for 12th in punt returns last season (9.8-yard average), but dipped to 21st this year (7.2). Palm Beach PostDallas News

Yes, that was a big concern in the offseason, and then so was the secondary. Miami addressed both of those, then the front seven fell apart....so we'll fix that this offseason, will something else fall apart?

The key is building depth so that when it does fall apart somebody is ready to step up, and I think our FO is doing a great job of building depth.

It was clear Devone took a step back this year in punt returns.
Maybe we can find another Chris Williams this year? Hopefully this one doesn't get hurt...

Really man? That's quite a stretch, and certainly not worth some crazy smartass comment. PR said he wanted another Chris Williams only without the injury. Then you pointed out that he dropped a few punts. Then I pointed out that players aren't just speed and size, it's also about staying healthy, catching the ball and doing things right. I honestly don't know how that went over your head so much.

PR said what he said about Chris Williams, then I pointed out the ball hitting his face mask, you jumped in with letting us know players aren't just speed and size, and I capped it with weather plays a factor in games. It was the natural flow of things. No reason to get upset.

Wow, I'm surprised by that. I knew we where better then the '08-'09 campaign but not by that much.

No, if you pay attention to the boards you'd know that PR likes to say things about a player's size. You'd also know that Ted Ginn has potential because he's fast...you'd also have known that the love for Chris Williams comes from his 4.2 speed before the injury. There was a connection, you just didn't see it...

Where is Chris Williams? Did he get picked up by someone. He played @ NMSU so I have a local attraction to the guy.
