we kind screwed ourselves here. now that teams know that we want to release him, he has ZERO trade value. you would think that the "trifecta" would have known something about this.

Who cares? They didn't plan on trading him today, why would they all of the sudden be disappointed now that they can't release him until March 5th?

well, if we kept it under wraps that they were planning on releasing him, there might have been a team or two that would have inquired about trading for him, or we could have packaged him in some sort of deal. he did have value, if we were going to release him, might as well at least TRY to trade him away for some kind of compensation.

PLUS, i think the reasoning behind todays effort in trying to release him was to avoid Porters bonus which is due March 4th. so they might just be disappointed that they cant release him til the 5th.

That's just it...Miami released him today. They did it. They had no suitors for a trade....you think they didn't call around?

They released him. They were playing poker and Big Bill decided to fold because he had nothing.....it wasn't his turn, so they gave him his cards back. It doesn't change the fact that he's still going to fold.

you'd be surprised at what can happen in a month. they probably did call around, but if they knew that they couldn't release him til the 5th, hold on to him cause some team might just lose a linebacker in FA, which causes value. i don't care if its a 7th rounder. porter had value. his bonus is due the 4th, so the phins will have to pay it. might as well of hung on to him through the draft to see if they could have tried to trade him due to lack of depth on other teams.
