The Miami Dolphins are currently nearing the end of a makeover to the offensive coaching staff that will result in some considerable changes to the assignments of several assistants, sources said at Tuesday’s Senior Bowl.
The team, which has added a new offensive coordinator and new coaches to handle running backs and tight ends in the last two weeks, has also hired former NFL wide receiver Ike Hilliard as a full-time member of the staff, as well.
Hilliard, a 12-year NFL veteran who was a standout at the University of Florida in the 1990s, got his coaching start with the UFL’s Florida Tuskers in 2009. This will be his first coaching job in the NFL.
Wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell also remains with the team as one of the few holdovers from a staff that’s seen multiple changes in the wake of a year that lacked little offensive flash in 2010.
