Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
Quote: Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant, the NFL Draft's top receiver, said he likes the idea of playing for Miami if he's available when the Dolphins pick 12th. ``If they draft me, it will be worth it,'' he said. ``I feel like I have no weakness. I'm fearless running across the middle. I'm similar to Larry Fitzgerald, the way I attack the ball http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/footb ... 67105.html

We could use some confidence.

Re: Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
Dez Bryant certainly has to be one of the considerations at #12.

Re: Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
Dez Bryant is precisely the kind of WR we should be looking for. If for some reason he should be there at #12, then I can't imagine why we would pass up on him. He isn't just a speed guy....he has great size, toughness, leaping ability and good hands. He is everything you should covet in a WR at the NFL level. I love the highlight films I have seen of him. The highlights feature him in traffic, leaping for the ball and coming down with it despite good coverage....and he also has good speed and elusiveness.....he gets yards after the catch...

He has speed but its a lot like Randy Moss...sneaky fast. Quote: Confidence is a double edged sword. (See Joey Porter) Confidence is great but don't confuse it with Porter's arrogance.

I can look a the highlight reel 100 times and it still won't give Bryant speed no matter how "sneaky" you may feel it is. He doesn't have speed, big deal, he has all the other tools.

1st round WR's scare me. Far too many busts - as the Lions.

What is his 40 time, I believe it is between 4.5 - 4.6. In todays game that isn't considered speedy.

Dez has plenty of speed to burn a defense down field. I'm not saying he's Ted Ginn straight line, but he's got speed bro.

Bryant does not have the speed, but you don't need necessarily need it. I'm just saying we shouldn't be building Bryant into something he is not. He is a great football player, we don't need to be making stuff up. But if we all want to pretend he is fast and stands 7' tall and shoots lightning out of his arse, then I'm game, just don't be dissapointed when the real Bryant who runs a 4.6 shows up.

My point was not that Rice did not have speed...my point was that your 40 yard time is garbage. Put on some game film, and that's how you determine how fast somebody is. Not how fast they ran in shorts in a timed, prepared for race. Rice had plenty of speed and ran by every defense in the NFL more times than anybody in the history of the game. Dez has everything you look for in a WR, definitely. Again, just because he does not have Andre Johnson speed does not mean the kid doesn't have what it takes to burn a poor DB down field.

To give teams a chance to second guess themselves. Sometimes it's beneficial, (Chris Johnson), sometimes it's not, (Darrius Heyward Bey).

Re: Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
I don't know that Dez is a 4.3 guy like Ted Ginn, but it woud not surprise me to see him run in the 4.4-4.5 range at the combine. When you combine his size with that type of speed, I will take that in a heartbeat.
PZ, watch for the kid Micah Johnson at ILB out of Kentucky. 6'2, 258 lbs, he would have probably been a 2nd round pick, but he suffered a late knee injury in the Clemson Bowl game. He will probably be thre in round 3-4.

Re: Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
I love Micah Johnson, too, SC. I think he goes 6'4 though?? He's a 1st round pick if he doesn't suffer the injury and if he didn't go to Kentucky.
If he's there in round 4.....gotta snatch that up. Great size, he can run, good tackler, playmaker, good in space, has good ball skills, strips the ball well.......He's got it all.

He's 6'2" He can run? A 4.75 40 is hardly going anywhere...slower than most quarterbacks. A 3-4 ILB doesn't have to run too far, so straight line speed hardly matters, but you make him sound so fast and fluid.

Boldin ran a 4.7 also....
On the field he looks pretty fast and fluid, yeah.
And a 4.75 is not slower than most QB's. Lol...come on now.

Re: Dez Bryant is the man for Miami?
?? Yes it is....lol. And why would you mention Aaron Rodgers when he did run a slower time than Johnson, (assuming his time really is a 4.75)?
I can't find a list of 40 yard times, but I can guarantee you that most QB's run a sub 4.8.

I was thinking for some dumb reason that the higher the number the faster they were. Yes, you're right, most quarterbacks run slower than 4.7/4.8 No wonder I was like, why are you saying they run a sub 4.8, I know that already! Yeesh.
