Post A year later, Matt Roth finally states his case
Quote:
Did he ever get an explanation for his release?

He laughed.

“Nah, nah, we never talked, so we just left it at that,” Roth said. “I was happy to be here, happy to move on, and happy to be with this staff.”

That’s all, after five years?

“Yeah, five years, and I think throughout the league, I’ve made a home at outside linebacker, being a big physical backer and really stopping the run, stopping that strong side run,” Roth said. “The first team that could pick me up picked me up. So I was happy to be here, and happy to just be back playing football.”

No curiosity?

“No, I knew I was going to make this a fit for me when I left,” Roth said. “And I didn’t think twice about it. You know, I’ve got teammates there, and I’ve made friends with some of the coaches. But as far as it went was just going to play football somewhere else.”

:???

What did he state???

Im a little slow, it is 6:30 Sat morn so....

Seems he wanted to leave Miami??

LOL.... You know darn well once JT & JP were gone a year later he was kicking himself...

Although our coaching staff seems to be more interested in pass rushing and cover OLB's and leave the run stuff to the ILB and line.. But I bet Nolan would have kept a guy like Roth..

Funny, I always liked him. Almost bought his jersey...

He doesn't know or care to know? I liked Roth, but there is something that he and the Trifecta are not talking about. As much as Parcells loves pass rushing outside linebackers, and Roth was a good one that was tough against the run as well ... they would have kept him if he fit in with their philosophy. I think he purposely held out last year trying to get a new contract or was in protest of something.

I respect the fact the guy doesn't want to burn any bridges. I always liked Roth; but, like everyone, I didn't understand the whole injury thing. I'm certain there was something going on but you have to like the guy for not airing dirty laundry.
