Post A Tale Of Two Kory's: Hidden Gems on the Dolphins' Roster
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/424076-a-tale-of-two-korys-hidden-gems-on-the-dolphins-roster

Quote:
TE Kory Sperry

Dolphins fans have not had much of a chance to see Sperry in action, as he has only started one game for the team.

When Anthony Fasano was unable to play in a Week 10 match-up versus the Buccaneers, No. 85 was thrust into action and began making immediate contributions.

Including being the first player on the 2009 team to score a touchdown in the final two minutes of either half.
...

RB Kory Sheets

Kory No. 2 has had even less of a chance to prove himself as a Miami Dolphin, with no starts, and only one carry for five yards in Week 17 versus the Steelers.

Sheets, acquired from the 49'ers practice squad mid-way through '09, is part of a supporting cast of three capable runners backing up the Ronnie and Ricky Show.

Known in college (and the NFL combine when he recorded a 4.39s 40 yd time) for his pure speed, Sheets saw significant playing time in four preseason games for the 'Niners, scoring three touchdowns, and rushing for almost 200 yards.

Even occupying the bottom HB slot on the depth chart, Kory Sheets could very well be forced into action in the near future.
...

A lot more in the link.

"If nothing else, he is the closest thing that the Dolphins have to track-speed now that Ted Ginn has been sent to San Francisco. There is a fair chance that he will act as a kick returner at some point this season"

Refering to Sheets

Kory Sheets is no faster than Grice-Mullen. He wasn't known in college for his pure speed either. He was known as a nice receiving option for Purdue's pass happy offense.

Tell you what..... If Miami would set up some gimmicky return plays, Sheets could be a weapon..... Think Bess/Cobbs takes a return between the hashes and pitches/laterals to Sheets on an end around type play for explosive yardage.... could be interesting, and I think Chicago was doing things like that when Hester first broke out 3 years ago.

Kory Sheets is not Devin Hester. Kory Sheets is not that good. Kory Sheets is as fast as Ryan Grice-Mullen....

Can we stop the obsessing now?

Sheets is a legit 4.3 guy while, like you agreed in another thread, RGM would be like to run in the 4.4's. He's got plenty of speed and unlike RGM he brings something to the table that Miami does not have.

In the end though, neither guy is the fastest player on offense. Taurus Johnson is and I think he ends up winning the 5th WR and possibly KR job. For all the hype about Carlton Mitchell in this past year's draft, Johnson was better at USF when the 2 played together.

?

I don't understand how Sheets is legit, but Grice-Mullen is not.

Here's the better question... who is more likely to make the 53 man, a reciever or a running back?

Whoever does better on special teams...

these guys are locked at RB imo:

Ronnie
Ricky
Cobbs (although i disagree w/ him being anything special)
Hilliard

Wr locks include:

Marshall
Bess
Camarillo
Hartline

Fighting for a spot:

Sheets
Grice-Mullen
Turner
I'm sure some TE should go here, Nalbone?

The other guys are just bodies.

add the "4th QB" to that list as well, because we have the serious issue of maybe having to carry all 4, or 3 of the 4 this fall on the 53 man roster...... Penny can linger on the PUP list for a bit, but still..... 4 RB slots set, 4 WR spots set.... which leaves 1 spot available for those four guys OR the 4th QB (which probably wont happen)

Ronnie B scored a TD in the last minute of the 2nd half of the Jets game.

Eh, this is what TC is for, what I like is the physical talent that is competing, this two are fast, even the #9 Wr can run.

I'm not convinced Hilliard is a lock to make this roster... but he always seems to be a monster in the preseason.
