19. Miami Dolphins: The top three cornerback combos in the NFL reside in Cincinnati, Green Bay and with the Jets. However, if you’re looking for a pair who have the talent to break into that realm, second-year CBs Vontae Davis(notes) and Sean Smith(notes) have all the talent. If you throw in veteran Will Allen, the Dolphins have arguably the best nickel group of CBs in the league. The safety situation isn’t quite as good, which is why the Dolphins allowed an obscene 8.2 yards per pass attempt last season. SS Yeremiah Bell(notes) is solid, if he can stay healthy, and FS Tyrone Culver(notes) won the job by default. Not great, but you’d rather be good at cornerback first.

Re: Yahoo! Sports - DB Rankings
To use last year as the only measuring stick is a little biased. The AFCE did face the murders row of QBs last year, I mean, clearly our Run D faded after Ferg's injury, and noticeably at that. An extra 40 yds per game.... but even with that, our Run D was still top half. Why? because we faced Bradyx2, Manning, Rivers, Schaub, VY had a big game, Brees, Ryan....Sanchezx2, Fitzpatrickx2, Big Ben, Freeman, Delhomme, Garard. thats half a season right there of big arm threats. This year, regardless of progress/decline, our pass D should be statistically better facing the likes of Brohm?x2, Sanchez x2, Bradyx2, Stafford, Cutler, Favre, Rodgers, Palmer, Steelers QB, Delhomme, Flacco,Campbell, Garard.... the list is not nearly as intimidating i see 5 QB threats as opposed to 8. Even if our stats are 350 yards less, and 4 TDs less.... that should climb us about 5 slots in the pass D stats....... Plus I expect progress too, this could be a good group as DB's with Nolans attacking scheme. Don't be surprised to see Miami at about 13/14 in pass D, and 8/9 in run D. Those are realistic projections. I wouldnt say higher only because I have a feeling we will be in about 4 shootouts this year...... one vs the Patsies, Vikes, Green Bay, and Cincy. Just got that feeling that our O will be getting off the field with points quickly, and the D will be on the field alot....hopefully with the game out of reach and giving up garbage yardage
