Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick DE Jared Odrick didn't take many reps with the first-team defense during OTAs according to PFW. But HC Tony Sparano cautioned observers not to read too much into the way snaps are distributed at OTAs. Odrick is expected to be heavily involved in the rotation at end, regardless of whether he starts.

When they drafted him I said we would have a rotation of line men. I wouldent be shocked to see him at (nt) on some downs or playing more inside (dt)...JMO

Nolan throws a lot of 4-3 looks so maybe. I still see him as 90% def end, though. Depending on how the young DT's pan out. Ryan Baker is being re-schooled aint he? was a defensive end at one point, iirc.

This defense is going to have fresh legs all season. Doesn't matter who starts we'll be rotating players in and out all game long.

I can see Crowder player OLB/MLB
Misi and Wake in DE/OLB
Sean Smith rotating on the outside as Vernon Davis and Will Allen rotate on Slot Receivers.
OL / DL will be rotating all game depending on situations.

Wake-Starks-Odrick-???? on our nickel rush line.

That 4th man is a big hole, I'd almost put Jared at DE and play Langford at DT on the nickel rush.

Nickel rush is generally 4 men. Wake, Starks, Langford, Misi. Odrick and Crowder come off, Edds and Smith come on.....is my guess.

Hmm, do you suppose they would put starters as nickel rushers as well?

Odrick can spell Langford, who is a surprising good passrusher, and Misi is a huge "?" as he was not a productive sack artist in college.

Which to me means that role is wide open for whomever shows they can get after the Qb in TC.

Agree.. Or Wake, Starks, Odrick, Anderson. Anderson can rush the passer. People forget that.

Yeah, but you don't draft Misi to put him on the bench in passing situations.

Of course. You put your best pass rushers in a nickel situation.

Misi is not a good passrusher.

And putting starters on the Nickel Rush line means in the 4th qtr they could wear out.

According to some Dolphins veterans. Misi has been doing well rushing the passer. Even getting some rushes against Jake Long and Vernon Carey. That's some promising stuff right there. If that holds true and keeps up. Wake and Misi together could be a great combo.

Well, Misi not being a good pass rusher still remains to be seen, but a worn down line because they play on nickel rush? I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. These are world class athletes, and if you can't play every defensive down, you need to get in shape. Plus, nickel is generally 3rd down, and if you're spelling your best players for that crucial down you've lost it as a coordinator. Spell your guys on occasion somewhere in the mid 2nd quarter on 2nd down, or mid 3rd quarter on 1st and 2nd down.
They get rest when the offense has the ball, during TV timeouts, at the end of quarters, special teams plays and at halftime.
