No surprise there.

One agent said the Dolphins told him they will be looking for a running back in the draft, and they feel they can find one in the mid-rounds if necessary. The top prospects --- all potential second-rounders --- include Ohio State’s Carlos Hyde, Auburn’s Tre Mason, Baylor’s Lache Seastrunk and Washington’s Bishop Sankey.... ESPN reported that Denver free agent running back Knowshon Moreno would love to join the Dolphins, but it's unclear if the interest is mutual.

There are definitely some nice running backs in the draft this year. Carlos Hyde is my #1 back.

I love Hyde but I think Devonte Freeman has to be a name to watch out for

I've heard Devonta Freeman named mentioned. Devonta is a good, solid football player.

I will gladly take Tre Mason and his 1816 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns! This kid is a stud!

I'm hoping we re-tool our runningbacks and add two backs in the draft this year. I'd love to see a scenario where we get Mason early (2nd or 3rd), add someone like Kapri Bibbs late (6th, 7th, UDFA), and then trade Daniel Thomas away similar to how we unloaded Martin. Then our runningback situation would look something like this:
1 - Lamar Miller
2 - Tre Mason
3 - Mike Gillislee
4 - Kapri Bibbs
5 - Marcus Thigpen

I hope the Dolphins would add one via free agency. With Miami losing a 7th round pick in the Bryant McKinnie trade, using multiple picks on RB's might be a little hard.

No one is trading a pick for Daniel Thomas. Too many available backs in free agency. Martin can probably be a decent starting guard for a team if his head gets straight so he's something of an exception.

I'm really on board with Tre Mason and think he could become pretty darn good.

I just posted this in the NFL Draft section:

Quote:
Just watched the tape on Mason against Missouri in the SEC Championship and came away rather unimpressed.

He had nice stats for the day, but for the most part he couldn't even make it to the second level if the hole wasn't wide open, he went down on the first hit nearly every play and I surely did not see a whole ton of burst. He also dances a lot ala Ronnie Brown.

I know it's only 1 game... but it was against top talent. He'll face much tougher defenses in the NFL.
