Who is conducting the interview? Ross? Aponte? Philbin? All three?

Probably just Philben. It's his choice.

Sherman comes in with his hat pulled down low and a fake ID that says Bill Lazor. Hired.

Rumor is Philbin is searching for OC while Ross is seeking out GM.

Two OC candidates are Lazor and to my surprise, Kubiak.

I would be willing to bet that Ross told Philbin if he can land a big name who will help then he'll make sure the GM doesn't threaten to bring in his own squad. I believe Kubiak would fit that ultimatum. But does Kubiak, who just left a sour situation, really want to put himself in this type of 1 year prove it environment?

This seems to make it clear that Ross is searching for a guy who will be willing to work with Philbin, at least in the short term.

I think he would...1)He isn't looking long term oc. He wants to be a hc and will get another shot in the near future.2) He may be either the interem or next hc..3) He is waling into a pretty good situation..Young qb nucleus of talent with cap room to get the needed help.. Anyway who is offering anything better at this point?

That has nothing to do with coaching and everything to do with Vick getting paid. Contract year, amazing, gets paid, the suck! See his history in Atlanta and now Phili. It's how it is.

another note: Ross seems sold on Philbin's vision and I think the new GM will be one that is only there to stock the fridge based on Philbin's recipes. And you know, I'm ok with that. Really, the coach is the team. The whole team takes on the personality of the coach. If your coach is cold, shrewd and quiet, so are they (see New England). If your coach is loud, obnoxious and boisterous, so are they (see New York Jets). If your coach looks like a lost dog when he loses, so do they (see Washington Redskins).

I'm ok with forming a legion of Philbinites. I hope he lands Kubiak. I'd do butt naked carwheels and post pictures on FB.

I don't post much. However, I found this very concerning.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Friday morning that the Dolphins' offensive coordinator search is "zeroing in" on Kyle Shanahan, Gary Kubiak, and Ben McAdoo.
Miami is the only team with known interest in Shanahan and Kubiak, while McAdoo has drawn long looks from the Giants and Browns. Kubiak did get an interview for the Lions' head-coaching vacancy, but isn't believed to be a serious candidate. Shanahan and Kubiak's offenses are similar and would be a fantastic fit for Ryan Tannehill, who would benefit from being utilized on boot-action plays with more commitment to a foundation run game. Miami essentially did not have a run game in 2013.

I know Shanahan has a bad rap... but his system worked extremely well when RGIII was mobile.

Worked pretty well for Schaub too.

I think the bad rap comes from being perceived as getting his opportunities via dad.

The Redskins offense was absolutely horrible this past season. They were blown out most weeks. RG III was a big part of the problem, but the OC is still accountable. The Redskins overachieved in '12, with a offense that was tailored to Griffin. I'm not a fan of Shanahan.........it seems like he would need to take a step back before being considered as a GM again. McAdoo would just be a puppet to Philbin.........so through the process of elimination, I hope we get Kubiack.

Imagine that... a coach designing an offense to fit a player's talents!

The same could be said for changing to a 4-3 defense and a zone blocking scheme on offense. Miami did not have the personnel to run a zone blocking scheme.

Heard Kubiak talks went well for Dolphins OC. Kyle Shanahan interview, not so well. Now comes Ben McAdoo.

What would be more impressive is if he followed it up in '13. The Skins went 3-13 while playing in the worst division in football. Though their offensive rankings don't look that bad, they were often getting scrub yards in the 4th. Under the Shanahans, Griffin took a huge step back in '13, granted his mobility was limited from the ACL tear the prior year, but he was still more mobile than most QBs. Kubiak would seem to be the front runner, but his ego maybe to big for Philbin to handle.

Does this whole process of picking the OC, prior to bringing in a GM seem really off to anybody else? Especially, when you consider we were able to land an interview with a proven GM like Xanders. If you're not going to give him say over the HC, then at lest give the new GM say over the new OC.

I think the philosophy here is that the GM is simply responsible for finding the best talent to be groomed, not the groomer himself. Philbin already has control over the coaching situation and seems to have convinced Ross that if given better talent he will coach them up. So add characters who may conflict (again).

As I said before I'm not giving Ireland a pass, but he did add some good pieces who seemed to lack a good coach. It is conceivable that this is true for Philbin as well. If Ireland gave him Martin, Miller, Thomas, Jerry, the TEs, etc. and simply said make it work then we have a problem. If Philbin said please get me Albert and a competent RB to bring balance and spare Tannehill a beating then it should be considered when judging his overall performance.

BTW, the Giants just hired McAdoo as their OC. He literally walked out of Miami's interview and took the job.

And this guy was supposed to be the shoe in candidate.

Is there still time for Ross to figure out that no one has confidence in his organization? Can he still fire Philbin, tell Aponte to simply deal with contracts and find a new game plan for personnel and coaching?

You would think a smart business man that is worth millions if not billions would be able to answer a YES to your question Jammer. This is not the case with Ross.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope that Philbin looked at McAdoo and decided he wanted something different. But something doesn't smell right here. The guy walked out the door and immediately took another job.
