Don't think Al Golden is on anyone's radar right now. He cant win a big game just like Shannon couldn't.

If Ross really wants to make an eye opening move, he should hire Bill Polian as GM next year and Tony Dungy as coach.

Bill Polian didn't have the best track record his last few years as a GM.

Dungy has made it pretty clear, he has no intention of returning as a coach. From Tony Dungy back in March, 2013.............

“I’ve told anybody who has asked me when I have been offered the chance to sit down and talk (with an NFL team) that I’m not interested,” Dungy said. “I’m enjoying life. We still have five kids at home that we’re raising. I had 28 great years coaching in the NFL. I had the best job you could have when I left.”

Dungy & Cowher have gone the way of Jimmy Johnson...........they've already proven themselves, making good $$ with minimal stress and still involved in the NFL. I don't think the Miami job is going to draw any of them out of retirement.

How about Ken Whisenhunt?

Helped with Roethlisberger and had some success in Arizona before the QB debacle. He's got Rivers playing well behind a crap o-line and limited weapons.

He's young, has been to a Super Bowl and carries a good reputation.

I think Philben's getting the ax..........your team has two chances against sub-par opponents to make the playoffs and they can only manage 7 points. Ross kept Sparano around for an extra year.............probably against his best judgement.........I'm sure he regrets not firing him and making a full court press for Harbough. The difference is Philben is Ross' guy...............so we'll see.

For available coaches...........added Ken Whisenhunt, Jay Gruden, & Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniel............removed Rex Ryan. I like Jim Mora.......followed by Mike Shula, Bill O'Brien & David Shaw.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ken Whisenhunt......Took the Cardinals to a SuperBowl, now OC for the playoff Chargers ......... rumored to be the top choice for the Texans.

Jay Gruden..........OC for the Bengals.........experience is rather limited.

Mike Shanahan......about 15 years removed from his glory years........not sure he'll coach again.

Josh McDaniel.........Former HC of the Broncos.......currently OC for the Pats.......the Browns are reportedly interested.

Mike Shula.....certainly has the pedigree, now OC for Carolina.

Bill O'Brien......he's done an admirable job for sanctioned Penn State......former OC for New England.

Bill Cowher...............this is the #1 option, but I think he's going the way of Jimmie Johnson.......happy with a more casual life.

Lovie Smith ............Former Bears Coach..........the last time we had a former Bears Coach it set the Program back several years.

Mike Holmgren........after a rough stretch with the Browns, he maybe looking to prove himself again.

Jon Gruden..........hasn't coached in 5 years, despite showing a strong desire to return.

Rob Ryan.......quite an impressive job he's done with the Saint's D.

Jason Garrett........no decision yet.............but I think he's a goner.

Jim Mora Jr.........Former NFL head Coach, has turned the UCLA program around.

Mike Zimmer..........D Cord for Bengals, regarded as one the best Cords in the League.

David Shaw.......Stanford Alumni & HC, won the Pac 12 last two years & has NFL experience .......says he's not going anywhere.

Adam Gase..........Broncos OC, he's young and may need a few more years to prove himself.

Greg Roman..........49ers OC, he's been under Harbough's wing since Stanford.

Agree. I wish Miami fans would move past Cowher. I believe at some point he will return for a large check. Coach 3 unsuccessful yrs & retire. He will not want a rebuilding job either. He will want a Phil Jackson situation, which generally does not happen in the NFL.

Its is my opinion that once a coach has put in his time & walks away. Once he sees what life is like outside the NFL, he can never go back to the grinding a coach puts in. Vermil was able to come back, but he was forced to walk away for his health. So the fire still burned. Plus he said he learn to let others do their job.

There are plenty is coaches out there ready & wanting their chance.

True........Golden's stock has plummeted since I started this thread. I'll leave Cowher for now, he hasn't come out and said he'll never coach again like Dungy.

The Phins need to make a decision soon.........The Texans, Vikings, Browns, Bucs, Lions & Redskins have already fired their coaches.......the Raiders and Cowboys may not be far behind.

Its been said Garrett and Allen are safe. Their staffs will see a shake up, but they remain.

Just for discussion, let's say Philbin and company are cleaned out. Which jobs appear to be the most attractive?

Houston has a good team and the first overall pick.

Detroit has a good QB who needs to be refined, the best receiver in the game, and what could be a really nasty defense.

Minnesota needs a QB but has weapons.

TB has talent, possibly a QB.

Washington is a mess.

Cleveland needs a QB, RB and some receiving help.

I think Miami is actually a very attractive option. They have a weak division, a promising QB, the pieces (mostly) for a good defense, and some good receivers. Problem is the entire o-line needs to be rebuilt and they need to find a ground game.

I agree with you Jammer............I can see where some may say the Lions........they seem to be the closest to making a legitimate run............but still it's Detroit......a team that's never gone to a SuperBowl plus I can't imagine a lot of people want to live in Detroit......some parts of the City have basically been forgotten, inhabited by vagrants and wild packs of dogs. Seriously........film producers are going to Detroit to make their post-apocalyptic shows/films, because so much of the City looks that bad.

Mike Shula. What the hell.

Ps: I'm terrified we aren't getting rid of our coach or GM.

Did Chudzinski have a specialty he was known for?? like with quarterbacks or something. Or maybe I am thinking of someone else. Just thought maybe we could find someone to join the staff and get rid of the ineptness we have here right now

Don't be so sure. NFL Network reporters keep emphasizing that no one is safe in Miami.

We still haven't even heard the results of the investigation which of course will add fuel to the fire if Ireland is guilty of any wrongdoing.

Isn't Chud supposedly a good QB guy? I know O Kelly loves him and said he was a great offensive coach at Miami.

Yea I thought I heard that somewhere. I don't know if he would settle for a QB coach or something, but if we could find someone to take Tannehill to the next step, I think it could do us wonders

It would change everything. Look what Mike Shula did for Cam Newton.

Self made billionaires usually aren't stupid and learn from their mistakes.

These other firings were in the works prior to yesterday's results. Ross had to see if his team was a playoff team or not. I'm sure he wants to hear from Ireland and Philbin how they plan to correct the problem before deciding their fate.

He's going to ask Philbin all of the same questions that Philbin won't answer for the reporters. I do not assume he is safe at all.

Well said... I have read a ton of crap on Ross, and its all very much undeserved.. We have a wealthy owner who just dumped 200 mil to make us better, and he doesnt dip his hand in the mix, he lets the people he hires do it.. They have not done it, so they must be held accountable..

I like Ross, he wants to win just like us..

I would like everything new from GM down. Hire a GM and let him go get a coach that fits the type of players he will be acquiring. Let's have an identity for once, some semblance or compatibility. We need a winning gameplan and for everyone to be on the same page.

I've felt the last few years were more of a constant negotiation among the staff. None of them knew who the Dolphins really were, so naturally the players didn't either. Everyone just had their own ideas.

I just want someone to step in who knows EXACTLY what to do and will take charge, as if he were an elite QB in the huddle. Someone who inspires confidence.

Just like looking at the draft in November , just like blowing a playoff chance in December , just like it always the refs fault , etc. , etc .... Miami is always the most attractive spot for potential head coaches. It will be again in 2015.

Per an earlier post, Ireland was assured by Ross his job was safe after the Steeler win......since that time the Phins beat the Patriots for the first time in five years, then preceded to lose in lackluster fashion to the Bills and Jets.

I'll take Ross for his word and assume Ireland is back next year and Ross is depending on him to evaluate the current coaching staff along with available candidates for HC and Coordinators. Certainly, Ireland's status after '14 is dependent on the advice he gives and the subsequent results..........since Philben was not his choice and Sparano was kept a year after he should have been fired.........I predict Philben and the rest of the coaching staff will be gone in the next couple of days.

I believe we can do better than Philben and his bunch this year.........there's a large pool of qualified candidates or at least better than we currently have.

There is always the wild card, Ted Wells. His investigation might be used as an excuse to clean house.

I know , lets start a task force to help us find our next HC , GM , OC, etc. Hell they can even help us find players who wont pack it in after week 14.
We can see if we can get guys like Tony Dungy , Curtis Martin , Dan Marino , Jason Taylor and even Don Shula to be on it.
Oh ... wait a minute.

No offense to the DON..........but Dungy is really the only one qualified in that group to effectively evaluate and organize a NFL team's GM and Coaching Staff.

When is the report due...........it's taking longer than the investigation into the Kennedy Assassination. Anyway, I would hope Ross has received enough information to tell him if Ireland or the Coaching Staff did something significantly inappropriate.
