Adding to the anxiety is Miami's lack of full-time game experience at outside linebacker. As long as Taylor was around, lack of depth was the problem, the kind of problem that a little time and drilling by coach Tony Sparano and his assistants can address.

With the draft finally here, though, and with six of last year's playoff teams showing up on the first half of the Dolphins' freshly released 2010 NFL schedule, it's starting to feel like time is up.

All the alarms are ringing. All the red lights are blinking, and one of them is nose tackle, where Parcells' old bulwark, Jason Ferguson, is simultaneously coming off an injury and shut down by an eight-game league suspension.

If the Dolphins take Tennessee's massive Dan Williams with the 12th pick overall, Miami fans will fret over not getting any of the linebackers or defensive ends available to approximate what JT used to bring.

Switch the previous sentence around and read it the other way to arrive at another panicky fan and media reaction, the one that will result if Parcells passes on Williams and takes an outside pass rusher instead in the opening round.

There's just no getting it all done in one night, and two nights may not be enough either,

Uh...there are 7 rounds in the draft for a reason.

Could not agree with you more. Don't see where the media see's that you can only get a starter within the first three rounds. Even if we don't go NT in round 1. I believe that we can get a quality starter in round three or four.

And I think this year is specifically most important to utilize all seven rounds. 7 rounds are usless when we draft Pat Whites and Pat Turners in the first half them. We need to find 3-4 guys this draft who need to be legitimate starters.

He won't even sniff the third round, he'll be gone way before that.

Wouldn't want him either, and honestly I don't think a huge uproar will happen if Phins pass on Dan Williams...Parcells always talks about NT's being available late in the draft and Ferguson was a 7th rounder...It could be a smokescreen, but if Parcells really believe that he can find NT starters late, why waste a 12th on it

Of course Fergie was puffing the dragon...

But there are more interesting prospects than Dan
