The Denver Post reported the Jets were still in the bidding for Marshall, even after pursuing Jason Taylor, and were even willing to give up their first rounder (No. 29 overall) for the Beast. Contract terms could not be worked out, however, and the Dolphins got their man.

So the broncos were considering marshall's contract in negotiations for a trade? You would think that they would be looking for whatever is in the franchise's best interest.

I think they're talking about a contract with the new team..No team is going to fork over a couple of first day picks with out a contract extension in place

Denver really did not have a choice. If the Jets could not come to an agreement on Marshall in regards to a contract, trading for him would be useless. Because of the collective bargining agreement situation, instead of being an UFA, Marshall was a RFA. His contact still was up though.

I'm actually surprised that the Jets were even in the mix for Marshall, like how much cap space do these guy's have here?..

I just pray the pattern of building 'super teams' via free agency continues and the Jets crash and burn this season!!.

If the Jets got Marshall they would have to do some serious gutting when a new cap gets in place (if it ever does).

That being said...I didn't realize it was that close. I guess our FO is smart enough to realize that we COULD NOT have lost Marshall to the jests...and thank God we didnt.

To summarize how the Brandon Marshall battle went I will use this simple equation:

Dolphins > Jets
