DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Before Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin left the team saying he was bullied, he told multiple people that he was considering quitting football, two people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

One of the people said Martin considered giving up the sport because he was mistreated by other offensive linemen. That person said Martin, who sought counseling for emotional issues, now plans to continue playing. Both people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the organization has said little about Martin's departure. ...

For Martin, the final straw was a lunchroom prank at the team complex, and he then left the squad. Tannehill and Jerry said the same prank has been pulled on many other players.

Hijinks are especially common among the offensive linemen, Clabo said.

"We have a system of basically it's just a big joke, basically," he said. It helps camaraderie. It keeps things light in the room. Everyone participates. No one is exempt and so I don't see how ... we would all be guilty of bullying."

So all of the O line are being accused of bullying by Martin or is it more? I wonder which team will be the first to offer a trade for him? I doubt he would be comfortable being back among the bullies in the Phins organization.

Maybe Martin is gay and thought something more would come of Richie taking him under his wing.

And when it didn't, his estrogen took over.

Could be a case where his mindset impacted his play.

He's still a young guy. Maybe he matures from this whole experience.

Left tackles need to be warriors IMO.

They should at least have a warrior mindset ... just as Jake Long did.

Who would want to play with someone this soft? I think his 'trade value' is near nil. I can't imagine us getting more than a late round pick for him. My guess is he will be released at some point in the next week or two.

So you think after he has filed a complaint against the Miami Dolphins (not Richie Incognito) that they are going to release him in the next week or two?

Do you realize how much legal ammunition that will provide for him?

I don't see many teams being interested in the guy. And I don't really see how he return to that locker room.

If he thinks he was being bullied previously, he'd better expect it to increase 10 fold. There are a number of teammates who aren't too thrilled with the way he has behaved

None of that matters.

He's a rat. And no one wants to play with a rat.

If they both get released, we will probably see one of them plugged into the line starting when we play the Patriots on December 15th.

It seems at least as plausible than being so emotionally weak as to run home to mommy after being subjected to the horrible prank of others getting up from the lunch table when you sat down.

Yes, because that's the only thing that happened. :hithead:

WARNING ***** PERSONAL OPINION *******

He's not good enough for any team to want to put up with what inevitably will happy if he is signed.

Bye bye JMART.
