McKinnie has allowed 1 sack and 19 pressures.

Clabo of course has allowed 8 sacks and 24 pressures.

The big knock on McKinnie is his run blocking. He is 74 out of 75 tackles in that category.

As a pass blocker, he is 54th while Clabo is 71st.

Jonathan Martin is 42nd, ahead of Luke Joeckel.

For those keeping score, Lane Johnson is 67th with 5 sacks allowed and 29 pressures.

42nd?

Quote:
The Miami Herald expects the Dolphins to move Jonathan Martin back to right tackle after acquiring Bryant McKinnie from the Ravens.
The Dolphins' offseason narrative was that Martin struggled as a rookie right tackle because that wasn't his natural position. He's now made six starts at left tackle and graded out 55th of 75 qualifying offensive tackles in Pro Football Focus' 2013 grades. In run blocking, he's 62nd. At some point it becomes time to acknowledge a continually struggling player just isn't any good.

Read carefully. I said he was 42nd in pass blocking and he is. He's 62nd in run blocking which is why he is 55th overall.

No doubt it is coming back to bite Jeff Ireland in the butt in regards to giving up that 2nd round pick to KC for Brandon Albert.

I was disappointed then, and I am even more disappointed now. That trade should have been made.

I just want to make sure we aren't doing revisionist hindsight history here. I thought the Chiefs would not allow Miami to give Albert a physical or check him out medically prior to the trade. I also thought Albert was refusing to do anything unless it came with an extension.

If you are giving up a high 2nd round pick and taking on an 8 million dollar salary you need to perform due diligence. If I'm wrong with my memory then forget what I just said.

In order for any trade to go through the player has to pass a physical. You can't deny a team from doing that and still complete a trade.

I think the issue was KC never got to the point where they let Miami negotiate with Albert.

What ticks me off on this trade is Miami could have traded a 4th/5th Rd picks for a franchise LT & didn't. However, they probably gave up a 7th for a player they did not want for free.

Correct, but before Miami committed to any deal I believe they wanted to check him out medically, not the usual make the deal and have him pass a physical.

Like you said, they wanted to negotiate but never got to that point because they weren't given the chance to preemptively clear him of any injury concerns.

Franchise LT's are usually available for 7th round picks.
Why would we have to pony up a 4th or 5th??

Because that is what the one just traded a few weeks ago cost.

KC wanted nothing less than a 2nd round pick. And then Albert would have required a multi year contract for $8,000,000 + per year. That was the sticking point.

It is easy to pick on this decision now, but safe to say Miami SHOULD have parted with the 2nd round pick AND paid the 8 Million per to get Albert.

Can any of you stat guru's post Branden Albert's current LT ranking??? Just curious.

Thanks Dave. Interesting that Jake Long has given up 4 QB sacks and 2 hurries while Albert has given up 1 sack and 4 hurries.

My biggest question is what about Martin? Gee wiz is he ranked dead last and you spared us that stat???

:)

You can go both ways on this one. You can criticize the coaching staff and Ireland for not being more proactive and asking Jacksonville if they'd part with the guy. But you also can say its not their fault because Jacksonville never made him available or tried to create a bidding war. Sounds like Baltimore called, asked and was granted the trade.

As a pass blocker, Brandon Albert ranks 6th, but he sucks this year as a run blocker at #53.
