So, I work on C-17s at Charleston AFB. This unto itself is pretty cool, but the Blue Angels are in town for an air show over Charleston harbor. Well, they are using my building as a kind of HQ while they are here and one of them was walking around. He asked if he could take a quick tour of a C-17 so I got to spend about 45mins showing off my goods to a Blue Angel! That was cool. He was the Marine Corps pilot of Fat Albert (the Blues C-130) and was pretty impressed with the newer C-17. Later, it was spun around the building that Fat Albert was going to offer up 10seats a flight for 3 flights to all the Charleston maintainers.

Talk about cool... then I got to chit chat with my own kind. The Blues maintenance team was sharing the smoking pavilion so I got to talk shop with a bunch of them too. The first question I asked: How many times do you have to clean puke out of the back seat of the #7 jet? Seems to be at least once every single week with out fail lol. Poor guys. What a cool day. I passed on the ride on Fat Albert. I've been on 130's before so I thought it would be chival of me to let the younger guys take first crack at it. Fun fun fun...

I have seen them perform and they also landed at a MCAB while I was there. They are uber-cool. I don't blame you for passing on the C130. That is not a pleasant ride!

Got to see them fly a year or two ago, and Fat Albert was there then too. Amazing show... very cool stuff man.

UPDATE!

I got "picked" to actually get on Fat Albert today for the practice show. Guess they had more open seats. Holy crap if was fun! 3gs to negative gs ect... half the plane was puking! I made it clean though. Man it was a wild ride. Capt Jorge was right, this 130 is different than the trash haulers I rode on in buttcrackastan.

There were 40 people on that flight. 20 of them puked. One guy in the back puked so much he got dehydrated and an ambulance from the base had to come out and remove him from the aircraft. Sick freakin ride though. I've done combat crap on 130's and 17's but not like this.

That looked like it would be fun to try. I love stuff like that have you ever jumped out of plane? Thats something I want to try someday soon I hope. I think after the Dolphins win the SuperBowl I will jump out a plane. That time might be sooner than I think. lol

I fix airplanes for a living. I like to think I'm quite good at it. Be a cold day in hades before I jumped out of one.
