Injuries have been the problem for Jamar Taylor and Dion Jordan, and our coaching staff cannot be surprised by either. We have good veteran support at CB and DE/OLB, so, I think they'll be slowly worked into the rotation if they can get healthy. I think Dion Jordan is going to be a beast.

Quote:
Dolphins second-round CB Jamar Taylor is "not in the plans right now" for early-season playing time. The 54th pick in April's draft, Taylor has missed a ton of camp due to setbacks from his May sports hernia surgery. First-rounder Dion Jordan (shoulder) may not be healthy enough for Week 1, and third-round OL Dallas Thomas has been manhandled by defensive linemen in preseason games. It's likely GM Jeff Ireland's 2013 draft class will open the season only getting meaningful contributions from blocking TE Dion Sims and K Caleb Sturgis.

When you have hernia surgery, they tell you to avoid strenuous activity (including weightlifting, running, etc) for at least six weeks. I've had the surgery... I know. So what are you talking about?

Dallas Thomas looks to be a super good back-up RT.

Excellent draft class so far.

We would have been much better off with Terron Armstead.

Sturgis is the only guy worth a darn right now. Albeit we're all optimistic of Jordan just based on his abilities.

The rest are just more of the same so far.

I think we will get big contributions from Jordan, Taylor and Davis this season. I'm not worried, they're rookies.

Impact guys....I'll give you guys RT. I'm talking a playmaking DE, LB, how about a game changing WR? RB? Cough, cough, TE. Seriously, though, can you guys really say you're happy about our 1st and 2nd rd picks benched? Usually, injuries drop draft stock. Not Ireland though, we trade up!

In this case no...They are not really benched and have some pretty good players in front of them..

They will have impacts. I am confident of that. Both will be in the rotation and everyone will be better because of it.

If they have a year like Egnew ..NO!

That's part of the point. We have depth at DE and corner and we draft a DE and 2 corners. OL was deep and TE was deep as well as WR. I think Jordan will be good, we'll see.

We had no depth whatsoever at DE and CB before the draft.

Wake, Oliver, Odrick, Shelby. Patterson, Grimes, Carrol, Marshall. Iknow Carrol "sucks" but at least he's on the field. BTW, no matter what our opinions are, we can both agree (hopefully) that our OL depth and TE depth were worse than DE and DB. It just sucks that our 1st and 2nd rd picks are not playing. The preseason is a valuable education for the young guys.

What they tell you to do is always a recommendation, not a must follow. No I wasn't getting in the type of shape these guys are by any means... but I certainly don't remember it lasting 6 weeks.

It was 6 years ago now, maybe I'm a bit cloudy...

patterson and grimes are stop gaps. wake is getting older odrick is a fa agent coming up...this is the kind of building the pack and steelers do.....and you did sign a stop gap at te it just didn't work out..so that was addressed also.
this is the next guy up mentality...i just don't like sheding depth for cap money not being spent

(for some reason caps don't work with my phone on here sometimes)

Its a waste Mak, Jordan is the greatest thing since sliced bread to most... Im with you tho, felt we could have went a diffferent direction and still added impact players on both sides of the ball early.

Never would have expected Ireland could trade up to 3 for a player that wont start, and still have fan support...

Olivier Vernon and Derrick Shelby were uncertainties to even make the team at draft time. Grimes was still recovering from injury, as was Marshall. Everyone thought Patterson would be a cap casualty.

Actually, two of the biggest questions were can the Dolphins generate a better pass rush outside of Wake and what were they going to do with the mess of a secondary?

Using Clay as an H-Back with 3 WR sets isn't going to be that bad. Clay just isn't going to fill Keller's shoes. Gibson and Hartline will have to pick up the slack for receptions.

The o-line looked better with Jerry in it. I'm actually not too concerned unless Martin goes down...but name me a team that has great OL depth, espeically at LT?

Its redundant, but it all comes down to Tannehill. If he can be accurate and generate 90 rating (which means yards and TDs, limited Ints) then this will be a playoff team.

Uh... no. When you have surgery and a doctor tells you to not do something for at least a certain amount of time, it is not a recommendation. You have to do it. There is a reason they are telling you to rest and avoid certain activities.

Yes because every human being heals at the same rate... Adrian Peterson didn't come back from surgery any sooner than anyone else did.

C'mon lets be real here.

the formula for beating the patsies is pressure..it is no secret....the lions proved it again this week...vollmer was like a rag doll....so you keep crying we needed to draft a te or tackle even though we did sign one of each...

the pick was correct whether or not it was the correct player is yet to be seen....the 1st round is full of players not "starting"

Why is it when someone disagrees here its "crying" or some other childish comment?

I simply do not agree with the pic, sorry if that bothers you, but I am entitled to have an opinion even if its not the same as yours.

Fore sure. A great pass rush will make the DBs much better. We had a 1st, 2 2nds, 2 3rds. I just thought we would have at least an impact rookie. I get drafting for depth and what not, but we traded up to #3 for an injured player. We also used a 2nd rd pick on an injured player. Maybe they will step up, the draft is a gamble. I guess it's just frustrating.

We need a like button or +1 button on the forum... I completely agree. If you're taking a guy 3rd overall the hope would be that he'd make an immediate impact... especially since you gave up a 2nd to get him.

I definitely envisioned Dion Jordan at least coming in on third downs and Jamar Taylor at least playing the nickel to start the season.

I can understand people's frustration in regards to what appears to be a case where our top two picks may not be on the field in week 1.

But the draft is chess, not checkers. It is about thinking ahead not just the now.

Grimes is a stop gap and there isn't much past him so it makes sense to me to have corners to develop for the future. And the best way to stop high-powered offenses is to get to the quarterback, so you can't have too many pass rushers.

There is a reason drafts are judged after a couple of years. If Dion Jordan is getting 8-12 sacks in his second season and Jamar Taylor is getting 3-6 picks, no one will be talking about how it sucked that they were injured to start their rookie seasons.

I hear you Rich and I'm hoping that they can contribute this year. Luckily, Shelby and Will Davis have stepped up their games although Will is giving me nightmares of T.Buckley.

The glass half full? I remember drafts when Miami needed 3-4 guys to pan out in order to compete. I'm glad their almost to the point where guys are being drafted for the future rather than now. I'm sure these guys will eventually make an impact.
