Post NFL coach rankings: Personality doesn't matter, rings do
22. Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphins: They didn't want him in Miami, and he seemed to be a bit tight for most of his first year, but he did a solid job as a rookie coach. He is well respected as a football guy. Now he just needs to do something to show he can loosen up, which he did some this offseason. Players like that.

Personality matters imo.

I just look at a guy like Harbaugh. That guy really knows how to stroke a fire in his personnel. They clearly love playing for him too.

Philbin seemed to grow on me last year, I cant say I was too thrilled about him during HK. But I also heard he was not too thrilled about being on HK either so the cameras could have caused a lot of that.

The players seem to be responding to him tho, only time will tell.

Philbin is also in his 2nd year of bringing in his type of players. I expect the offense to be much better this year. And I think he is going to be a good coach. I can't wait to see them play this year.

Personality doesn't matter? Say that to The Don. In his early years (and his most successful seasons with the Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins) he was one uptight head coach. When you think of The Don you don't only think about the undefeated season, No Name Defense, Killer Bees, Super Bowl rings/appearances, Hall of Fame players ... you also remember 'the jaw'.
