Soliai’s agent, David Canter, told The Palm Beach Post that he’s “very optimistic that Paul will remain a Miami Dolphin for a long time” and that he expects the Dolphins to approach him about midway through training camp with a new offer.http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thedaily ... dy-starks/
“I’m optimistic the team will come to us with a fair market deal to try to get it done,” Canter said. “If not we’ll play it out.”
Canter said he believes Soliai, who received the franchise tag in 2011 and then signed a two year deal with Miami, should have received the Pro Bowl bid last year.
“One reason Randy has been so successful, Cameron Wake has been so successful, all the other guys on the front seven are so successful, a lot of it has to do with the big man up front,” Canter said. “It all starts with him, he knows that, and he has accepted that role.”
Both Soliai and fellow DT Randy Starks are scheduled for unrestricted free agency in 2014. Per the Miami Herald, the Dolphins haven't made Starks a multi-year offer since slapping him with the franchise tag. It's possible that they'd prefer to spend less to retain Soliai and then kick Jared Odrick inside in 2014, thus allowing Dion Jordan to spread his wings.
