Post Coyle & Rotoworld praise Wake
finally getting some positive words from Roto

Quote:
Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said he wouldn't trade DE Cameron Wake "for anybody in our league."
Wake went undrafted out of Penn State in 2009 and remains in the shadows of the game's best pass-rushers. It's unfair. Over the last three years, Wake has 37.5 sacks, 152 tackles and six forced fumbles. He's our No. 2 defensive lineman in the IDP ranks, ahead of Jason Pierre-Paul and behind only J.J. Watt.

Post Re: Coyle & Rotoworld praise Wake
most underrated player in the NFL. Think he was 86 on that joke players list. He's one of the best 35 players in the league. He always leads league in hurries and hits. Only Watt is better on defensive rankings. Wake's been doing it all by himself. All the other pass rush leaders have help. Aldon Smith's job is much easier playing with a bunch of stars.

Now with Jordan drawing attention Wake should be unstoppable.

Would Watt transition to DE here? He is practically the same size as our DT's

I would stick with Wake myself if we are talking just DE's or OLB's... He is the best for what we ask, stats prove it

If its any player, then welcome to Miami Aaron Rodgers lol (no offense Ryan)

Watt is 24/25 and Wake is 31. Come on guys, I like Wake, but not to trade him for anyone is dumb.

I believe Coyle was referring to guys at his respective spot. Or on the D line. Not ANYONE. Watch the interview on dolphins.com (Right after 1:30 or so). They didnt include him saying "Thats not to say there aren't some good pass rushers" following his statement.

There are not a LOT of players I am trading Cameron for. Yes, J.J Watt would be one of them, because he is that RARE DT that can get pass rush pressure up the middle.

That said, even at 31, Cam motor runs HOT and he plays hard. He has put up numbers despite the fact that he has not had a compliment opposite of him for the most part.

I agree 100%. I can't wait to see Wake with Dion Jordan rushing from the other side.

well it was really a "Cam Wake appreciation" thread......not so much a who can we dump this elite defensive end for? Like most threads here, it took a u-turn.

to steer this into another direction, is there any other franchise with a better history of pass rushing ends as we have had. Every era we've had amazing pass rushers.

Bill Stanfill
Vern den Herder
Doug Betters
Jeff Cross
Trace Armstrong
Jason Taylor
Cameron Wake

Yet here we are, hitting the reply button lol...

I am sticking with my original thought, if trading for a player to play his position, no I would not, I dont see Watt fitting as a DE here. If its any player, give me a franchise QB like Rodgers.

It would be mind boggling if he is not signed by Sat. I know he was not able to attend minicamp and OTA's, so having him signed was not a priority. But now its time to start work, get him signed and on the field

Answer the above question Rich. A lot is very subjective. If the Texans said we will give you Watt (24) for Wake (31), would you? Wake for Rodgers? Wake for Calvin Johnson? Wake for Luck? Wake for Peterson? Wake is the most underrated DE in football and I'm glad he's on our team, but for a coach to come out and say he would not trade Wake for anybody in our leagueis dumb. Wake is 31, he has 2-4 yrs left. Oh I forgot, it's Rich, and he loves to argue.....

Its fantasy, a hypothetical question and Croyle answered it the same way I assume any DC would in the NFL.

He was a beast. I have always liked having solid ends rushing the passer, and really excited to see Wake/Jordan
