Miami Dolphins

3. Dion Jordan, defensive end, Oregon.
54. Jamar Taylor, cornerback, Boise State.
77. Dallas Thomas, guard/tackle, Tennessee.
93. Will Davis, cornerback, Utah State.
104. Jelani Jenkins, inside linebacker, Florida.
106. Dion Sims, tight end, Michigan State.
164. Mike Gillislee, running back, Florida.
166. Caleb Sturgis, kicker, Florida.
250. Don Jones, safety, Arkansas State.

Overview: GM Jeff Ireland was pick-rich after unloading Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis -- two premier NFL starters -- for pennies on the dollar. Those bad trades are factored into Miami's grade. After more trades, the Fins wound up turning the two Marshall third-rounders into Michael Egnew, B.J. Cunningham, blocking tight end Sims, and part of the deal that brought underwhelming corner prospect Davis. For Vontae, they got Taylor straight up. Jordan has a chance to be the best player in this draft class. I like Taylor. Gillislee could be a year-one upgrade on Daniel Thomas if he demonstrates consistency in pass protection. Jones has starter measurables and offered value at the tail end of day three. But Ireland can't be let off the hook for his past talent-shaving trades just because he snuck them into last offseason. The Fins are still paying the piper, and after nauseatingly producing four consecutive losing seasons Ireland has cost himself all possible benefit of the doubt.

Grade: D+

So they're grading this years draft class based entirely on everything but this years draft class.

Why didn't he take into consideration of how Ireland set up this off season salary cap wise....Oh ya that wouldn't have fell into his little bash session....

Also if Taylor turns out to be as good as Vontae that would be a huge plus for Ireland...

Story is garbage

Considering the site it came from, I am not surprised in the least bit.

WalterFootball.com gave Miami a B-, CNNSI gave a B+, Kiper a B-.

That makes a lot more sense to me. I give it a solid B.

This doesn't surprise me coming from Rotoworld.

How they got the picks has nothing to do with a draft grade.

The trades he did make during the draft should be counted in there. And somehow there is no mention of the fleecing of Oakland in that trade.

I also agree, a solid B is in order.

How we got Dion Jordan for a second round pick when Minnesota had to give up a second, third, fourth and seventh for Cordarrelle Patterson is beyond me

Because they didn't swap a 1st...The Patsies dropped 20 spots and picked up a 3rd 4th and 7
...Now they will be cutting more draft picks from the year before again.

Pete Prisco gave Miami a B, and Rob Rang gave the Dolphins a B-. Both guys are with CBSSports.com.

Rotoworld is good for getting news out quickly, that's about it. Even now they just basically scan twitter and regurgitate it. I've lost all respect for the site this offseason with their ridiculous cheap shots at Miami. They are fantasy sports writers pretending to be analysts.

My big question mark for the draft is the LT position. I guess Miami is comfortable with Martin and thinks he improved his strength enough. If he is legit than Miami did a nice job of addressing needs.

Perfectly fine with someone being negative about Miami's draft, but that grade and explanation were garbage.

RotoWorld takes it to a new level man. They'd already lost any credibility they had with me, and this write up just confirms to me that they're not worth my time.

Jason Cole from Yahoo! Sports gives it an A, the only A he gave. For what it's worth.

Exactly. You could argue Miami didn't address LT, that its puzzling what they hope from Dion Jordan since he plays in space, or that they drafted a kicker when receiving options were still on the board.

What Rotoworld did was make themselves look stupid and uninformed.

Roto is a joke! They need to just stick with telling us who is going to be a Fanstasy Stud and who was signed or traded NOT analyzing drafts!

I use Rotoworld for contract specifics. They do a good job of posting contract breakdowns. There aren't many places to get that type of information.

I mean when they really get into Dolphin information because all it will ever be is just another way to bash us. I do agree it is a good site I just think to myself they should be professional and not always throw shots at us.

It's a great site for rumors and breaking news. The opinion part does not matter.

Both of these. Good contract info and good always-updated rumors/news. But as far as their evaluations go - and the opinions they inject into the rumors/news tidbits - all garbage.

Exactly.

This draft felt similar to 05 and 07 for me. A few 1st round gems, but not an exciting early pool of talent.

Lets look back in 2 years before deciding winners and losers.
